The Opportunity

As part of a strategic growth roadmap, G2 is seeking an experienced Carpenter to bring real craft to our projects. Established in 2020 and based in Bedfordshire, we’re a boutique firm working across the Northern Home Counties and London — residential new build and refurbishment, increasingly through Passivhaus and low-energy methods.

This is a role with craft at its heart. It isn’t about swinging a hammer — it’s about applying genuine skill to high-specification, low-energy work where the standard of the finish is everything. You’ll work alongside our site team and our clients, where teamwork is everything, and the projects genuinely one of a kind.

Core Character & Mindset

• Craft-led: You take pride in a finish that speaks for itself and hold that standard whether anyone is watching.

• Organised and dependable: You take pride in getting the details right and following things through.

• Generous with what you know: You bring our apprentices and trainees on, and you stay open to learning new methods yourself.

Carpentry Skills & Experience

• Across the board: Confident delivering 1st and 2nd fix carpentry, including roofing, to a consistently high standard.

• Judgement on site: Reading drawings thoroughly and offering practical solutions when a project throws something up.

• Client-facing integrity: The professionalism to work well in someone’s home and leave a good impression alongside good work.

Non-negotiables

• Safety, without compromise: A safe working environment for yourself and everyone around you is a condition of the role, not a preference.

Built on Modern Tools

As a forward-thinking business, we invest in doing things properly. We utilise systems such as JobTread, to help our projects move forward better, an app-based approach in construction.

Why G2 is Different

• Craft that’s valued: A direct line to the people making the decisions, on projects where the finish is the point.

• Hours that respect your time: 08:00–16:30 Monday to Friday.

• The work: High-specification, low-energy projects that genuinely make a difference.

Practicals & Benefits

• Pay: Best rates of pay, suited to your experience and skill. (CIS or PAYE)

• Progression: Further training and a clear route to develop alongside our Passivhaus work.

• Stability: Performance-based project bonuses.

• Getting there: Own vehicle and full UK driving licence essential.
