About the Position
We are expanding our Controlling, Reporting & Finance (CRF) team and are hiring a Working Student in Vienna, starting immediately.
This is a generalist role across all three of our CRF sub-teams: Portfolio Controlling, Fund Reporting, and Finance. You will support the operations of over 30 Speedinvest funds and investment vehicles, moving between the sub-teams gaining exposure to all aspects of finance in a fund manager. Supporting our audits will be a significant part of the role, alongside ad-hoc analyses and creating presentations as well as reports for key stakeholders.
That breadth is the point. Few student roles give you this complete view of how a venture capital fund runs, from a single portfolio company transaction all the way through to the audited numbers our investors receive. You will work directly with our controllers, reporting analysts and finance team, as well as with our external auditors, depositary and advisors.
Your Responsibilities
- Playing a central part in the annual audit, preparing and collating supporting documentation, tracking open items with our auditors, and helping us close the audit faster
- Handling requests from our depositary and other external stakeholders, locating the right documents and figures across our systems and responding promptly
- Running ad-hoc analyses and building presentations for internal and external audiences, often on short notice and on topics you have not seen before
- You help us keep our data accurate and up to date by recording transactions involving our portfolio companies.
- Supporting our quarterly reporting cycle, from data collection and consistency checks through to assembling the reports issued to our investors
- Supporting reconciliation work during our monthly and quarterly closings
- Contributing to process improvement projects across the team, such as better templates, cleaner data, and more automation
Your Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's programme, preferably in business, finance, accounting, economics, or a related field
- Available 18 to 24 hours per week, ideally across 2.5 to 3 fixed days, for a minimum of one year. We are looking for someone who wants to build something with us rather than cover a single semester
- Solid Microsoft Excel skills and comfort working with Google Workspace
- Attention to detail and a structured way of working. A lot of what we produce goes to investors, auditors and regulators
- Proactive mindset. You flag issues early, ask when something looks off, and take ownership of your tasks
- An understanding of the mechanics of capitalisation tables and exit distribution models, and of the basics of financial modelling, is an advantage
- Curiosity about new tools (e.g. Claude) that help us work more productively
- Fluent English is required. Solid German is an advantage, as a good part of our work with Austrian and German auditors, advisors and authorities, happens in German
What We Offer?
- A unique chance to step into the world of venture capital, with visibility across the entire fund operations stack
- Responsibility from early on and direct exposure to the wider team
- An innovative work environment with a growth mindset, offering continuous learning and development
- Being part of a talented, international, and results-driven team
- Flexible working hours and hybrid model, so the role fits around your studies
- Participation in company-wide and team events
- A part-time contract with an initial duration of one year and the possibility of extension
