Founding Engineer (m/f/d)

About the role

We are looking for a technically strong full-stack Founding Engineer to evolve our product together with the founding team and shape the next generation of intelligent engineering and safety software for the robotics and automation industry.

Europe builds excellent robots but often overspends proving their safety. We believe this is a software problem, and we are building the regulatory operating system for teams putting physical AI into the world, automating safety engineering and certification workflows. Robotics and AI are in hyper growth, and the EU regulatory landscape is transforming rapidly in response. The whole industry needs what we are building.

As a Founding Engineer at Uniform Robotics, you won't just build features. You'll take ownership of architecture, quality, security and real customer value. Together with the two founders, you'll improve the product iteratively and help us act quickly on direct customer feedback. A core part of the role is building new, purpose-built agent systems that support complex technical analysis for autonomous systems like robots and drones reliably, traceably and safely.

What you'll do

· Evolve our web application and backend systems

· Design and implement scalable system architectures

· Build AI agents and multi-step agent workflows that analyze regulation, reason about a machine’s design and produce safety analyses and risk assessments that hold up in an audit

· Translate customer problems into robust technical solutions

· Build typed data, API and workflow interfaces

· Develop asynchronous processes, workers and background jobs

· Ensure data quality, traceability and reproducible results

· Work closely with the founding team, customers and domain experts

What you bring

· 2-4 years of professional experience as a full-stack software engineer

· Excellent hands-on skills in TypeScript and Next.js

· Confident working with PostgreSQL

· Good to very good Python skills

· Hands-on experience with LangChain or comparable agent frameworks

· A strong understanding of system design, software architecture and API design, plus good knowledge of application security (authentication, authorization, secrets and data isolation)

· Excellent written and spoken English and working proficiency in German

How you work: You analyze complex technical problems in a structured way and explain them simply. You work independently, pragmatically and with a strong sense of accountability. You have strong product sense and enjoy working directly with customers.

Especially valuable

· You get excited when software touches the physical world, especially robots

· Experience with regulation and ISO standards, functional safety or safety engineering in the robotics and automation industry

· Deep knowledge of cybersecurity threats and mitigation strategies

· Knowledge of risk assessment, FMEA, FMEDA and product certification

· Experience with regulated products or industrial B2B applications

· A realistic view of when to use AI vs. deterministic logic
