Join the University of Houston - Downtown and play a critical role in maintaining laboratory environments that support groundbreaking research, hands-on learning, and student achievement. As a Coordinator, Laboratory, you'll oversee laboratory operations, ensure safety compliance, manage resources, and support faculty, researchers, and students in a dynamic academic setting.
What You'll Do
Manage Laboratory Operations
- Coordinate daily laboratory activities and preparation of lab spaces.
Promote a Culture of Safety
- Partner with Environmental Health & Safety teams to implement laboratory safety procedures and compliance standards.
Lead & Develop Staff
- Supervise student assistants and part-time employees through training, guidance, and performance management.
Oversee Equipment & Supplies
- Procure, maintain, and monitor laboratory inventory and equipment.
Manage Resources
- Track laboratory budgets and support efficient resource utilization.
Support Research & Learning
- Assist with development of laboratory experiments and provide instructional support as needed.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a collaborative, detail-oriented professional who enjoys problem-solving and working in a dynamic educational environment.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree plus three (3) years of related experience
OR
Associate degree in an Engineering discipline plus ten (10) years of related experience.
