Description
This is a Lecturer position supporting the teaching mission of the Department of Chemistry in the College of Science. This position will serve as coordinator for the General Chemistry laboratory sequence, CH 1011 (General Chemistry Laboratory) and CH 1021. The instructor will also teach other lower enrollment general laboratories including CH 1051 (Chemistry In Context Lab I), CH 1061 (Chemistry in Context Lab II).
Responsibilities Include
- Oversee weekly lab operations
- coordinate with and train TAs to conduct weekly experiments
- oversee course grading and manage student interactions.
- Work closely with laboratory stockroom staff to ensure safe and functional weekly lab operations.
- Work with Director of Undergraduate Teaching Labs and Organic Chemistry Laboratory Coordinator to ensure operational continuity and alignment across lab sections.
- Work with Director of General Chemistry to ensure adequate overlap of lab activities with lecture coverage.
- Devise and revise laboratory experiments (in collaboration with the Director of Undergraduate Teaching Laboratories with an emphasis on green chemistry, state-of-the-art chemical research, current chemical literature, and most importantly a strong emphasis towards achieving student full engagement.
- Work with Director of Undergraduate Teaching Labs, Organic Laboratory Coordinator, Office of Research Safety, Building Manager, and Stockroom Staff (both General and Organic) to ensure sustained compliance and maintain a safety-minded laboratory environment.

Qualifications
Ph.D. in Chemistry. Laboratory teaching experience is preferred.
