🚀 Automation Project Manager | Fareham | £75k | Water Industry | Hybrid
A leading engineering and automation business is continuing to grow its Automation division and is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join its Fareham team.
This is a senior delivery role with responsibility for commercial, contractual and technical delivery of automation projects across major industrial sectors.
You’ll be working across projects spanning Water & Utilities, Nuclear, Pharmaceutical, Food & Beverage, & Energy, managing multidisciplinary teams and working with technologies including Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, AVEVA and Ignition.
🔧 What you'll be doing
- Lead automation projects from front-end design through detailed engineering, construction and commissioning
- Take overall responsibility for technical, commercial and contractual delivery
- Manage multidisciplinary teams across Automation, Functional Safety, E&I and Control Panel Manufacturing
- Own project schedules, budgets, risks, procurement and commercial performance
- Manage contracts, variations and change — including NEC3/4, IChemE and bespoke contracts
- Build strong relationships with customers and act as the key technical/commercial interface
- Lead project teams with a strong focus on Health & Safety and quality
- Identify opportunities to improve project margins and develop further business with existing customers
- Work closely with Project Controls, QS, Planning, Engineering and senior leadership
👤 What we're looking for
- 5+ years' experience delivering engineering projects
- Strong project management experience within Automation / Engineering
- Water industry experience is essential
- Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Strong commercial and contract management capability
- Experience managing customer relationships and project portfolios
- Knowledge of project delivery across design, construction and commissioning
- Familiarity with NEC3/4, IChemE, CDM 2015 or similar contractual frameworks
- Experience with project controls and tools such as MS Project, Primavera P6 and SAP
- Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills
- Engineering degree or relevant technical qualification desirable
- APMP/PMQ or equivalent and professional membership desirable
