About the opportunity
DevLogic is partnering with a seed-funded applied AI lab building products for the freight and supply chain industry. They're already live with paying customers across fraud detection, high-volume voice agents and document processing, and have a long product roadmap ahead of them.
The team is small, flat and deeply technical. Everyone holds the same title, from intern to founder. Coding agents are the default way of working, and engineers are expected to own problems end to end with founder-level ownership across the stack.
Engineering is split into two tracks: Applied and Systems/Research. This is the Applied seat.
The role
You'll own the customer-facing layer, turning what the research team builds into shipped product, working directly with customers and routing what you learn back into the roadmap.
Day to day, you'll:
- Build and ship customer-facing features, from React front end through REST API integration
- Work directly with customers, take their feedback, propose solutions and move quickly
- Make database and data-architecture decisions with scale in mind, not just the next release
- Build LLM-powered functionality with a real understanding of the latency, cost and UX trade-offs of serving LLMs
- Flag systems-side limitations back to the research team and work together to resolve them
- Use coding agents as your default way of working: parallelise tasks, verify outputs and spend your judgement on what to build rather than on manual execution
What they're looking for
- Hands-on React and REST API experience shipping production, customer-facing features
- Database and data-architecture experience with a demonstrated habit of planning for scale
- Real experience building products on top of LLM APIs, with an understanding of latency, cost and UX trade-offs, not just prompting
- Heavy, fluent daily use of coding agents. This is assessed directly in the interview process
- You've shipped to identifiable users or paying customers. Internal tools and unreleased side projects don't clear the bar
Nice to have: distributed systems exposure, or prior forward-deployed / sales-engineering experience working directly with customers.
Location and working style
- HQ in San Francisco. In-office is welcome but not required, and they're open to any location for the right person
- Fully async. No fixed working hours or overlap requirement
- Strong written, async communication is expected: updates go to a shared channel as things happen
