About the Opportunity

SafariCo Hub is looking for a motivated final-year IT student or recent graduate who wants to gain their first practical experience in a professional working environment.

This traineeship is designed for someone who may have studied IT, software development, databases and related technologies at university or college, but has not yet had professional work experience.

The purpose of the role is to give the trainee an opportunity to understand how a real technology team operates, work on a real project, develop practical skills and experience a professional/corporate working environment.

You are not expected to already be an expert in the technologies listed below. They are technologies and tools that the trainee will learn and use during the traineeship.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

* Is currently in their final year of university/college, or is a recent graduate.

* Has studied IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business Computing, Information Systems or a related field.

* Has little or no previous professional work experience.

* Has studied programming, databases or software development as part of their education.

* Wants to gain their first practical experience in a professional environment.

* Is interested in learning how a technology project operates from development through to deployment and maintenance.

* Is interested in automation, AI, social media technology and digital platforms.

* Is willing to learn independently and ask questions when necessary.

* Is reliable, responsible and willing to take ownership of assigned tasks.

* Can communicate and collaborate with a remote/in-person team.

What You Will Do

The trainee will gradually take responsibility for real tasks, with guidance from the technical lead.

Responsibilities may include:

* Assist with website and backend development.

* Work on small development tasks using Node.js, Python and other technologies.

* Assist with database tasks using Supabase/PostgreSQL.

* Test new features and identify bugs.

* Investigate technical problems and research possible solutions.

* Create and maintain simple n8n automation workflows.

* Connect systems through APIs and webhooks.

* Assist with website deployment and hosting tasks.

* Work with Jira to manage assigned tasks and track progress.

* Use Confluence to document technical information and project knowledge.

* Assist with technical documentation.

* Support social media and digital automation.

* Explore ways AI can improve business processes.

* Participate in technical discussions and team meetings.

* Follow professional development, security and documentation practices.

How the Traineeship Works

The trainee will learn by doing.

At the beginning, the trainee will receive an introduction to the SafariCo Hub platform, development environment, tools and working processes.

Tasks will initially be small and supervised. As the trainee becomes more comfortable with the technology, they will gradually receive more responsibility.

For example, a trainee may progress from:

Learning → Small Task → Testing → Independent Task → Feature → Automation → Larger Responsibility

The objective is to help the trainee move from academic knowledge to real-world professional experience.

Work Arrangement

The position is based in Tanzania.

The trainee can work:

* Remotely, or

* In person from our offices in Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam.

The exact arrangement will depend on the trainee’s circumstances and the needs of the team.

Remote trainees will be expected to communicate regularly with the team and participate in online meetings when required.

Duration

3–6 months

The traineeship may be extended or lead to further opportunities with SafariCo Hub depending on the trainee’s performance, development and organisational requirements.

Important: No Professional Experience Required

This is a learning and development opportunity.

Candidates do not need previous professional experience with Node.js, Python, Supabase, Hostinger, n8n, Jira or Confluence.

It is enough for the candidate to have studied relevant concepts or technologies and demonstrate the ability and willingness to learn.

We are looking for someone with:

Potential + curiosity + responsibility + willingness to learn.

Not someone who already knows everything.
