Who are we:

Core Insurance Platforms (CIP) is Zurich’s global capability responsible for building, running, and evolving core insurance technology. We set a unified, scalable operating model—covering governance, standards, architecture, service delivery, and reuse—so our business units can deliver at speed and scale.

CIP is the strategic steward of Zurich’s Guidewire ecosystem, aligning platform roadmaps to business strategy while driving stability, modernization, reduced supplier dependency, and long-term cost efficiency.

India delivery center is one of our global delivery and capability hub. We bring together experts in AI, engineering, analysis, quality, and architecture to deliver product & process solutions, application run services, change and transformation initiatives, and centralized platform services across both on prem and Guidewire Cloud environments. Our teams operate from multiple global delivery centers, supporting Zurich’s business units worldwide.

Your role:

As a Software Engineer, Data Applications, your main responsibilities will involve:

- Provide L2/L3 support for data applications — incidents, problems, and changes.

- Use AI tools daily (Copilot, Claude Code, ChatGPT) for troubleshooting, documentation, root cause analysis, and automation scripting.

- Automate repetitive operational tasks using Python and scripting, leveraging AI to speed up development, improve quality, and standardize patterns.

- Use Terraform (IaC) for deploying and managing infrastructure in a repeatable, controlled way, leveraging AI to accelerate module/template creation, reviews, and documentation.

- Maintain monitoring and observability — dashboards, alerting, runbooks — and drive proactive stability improvements, leveraging AI to improve signal quality, reduce alert noise, and keep runbooks current.

- Operate and progressively automate legacy application stack — the team manages technologies including DB2, SAS, UiPath, Oracle, and MicroStrategy. The expectation is to maximise automation of current manual operations on these technologies, and eventually support their migration to the modern data stack.

- Support migration from legacy services to modern solutions, contributing to decommissioning plans and transition workstreams (AI-assisted impact analysis, runbook drafting, and cutover preparation).

- Participate in shared agile ceremonies with Europe.

- Demonstrate a high sense of ownership: take accountability end-to-end for operational outcomes, follow issues through to closure, and proactively drive improvements.

- Be user-obsessed: prioritize by user impact, minimize recurrence, and continuously improve service reliability and support experience.

- Apply strong communication skills: provide clear incident and change updates, write high-quality documentation/runbooks, and collaborate effectively across teams and time zones.

Your Skills and Experience:

As a Software Engineer, Data Applications, your skills and experience must include:

- 5+ years of hands-on Python experience (automation and scripting focus), with strong troubleshooting skills.

- 3+ years of cloud experience on Azure and/or AWS, including infrastructure ** Good to have **provisioning with Terraform.

- Demonstrated AI tool usage with concrete examples (Copilot, Claude Code, ChatGPT or equivalent).

- 3+ years of Hands-on Terraform experience for infrastructure provisioning.

- Experience with monitoring/observability and operations (incident/problem/change; ITIL mindset).

- High ownership mindset, user focus, and strong written/verbal communication skills (including stakeholder updates and clear technical documentation).

- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking

- Clear written and verbal communication (able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders)

- Collaborative mindset — works well within cross-functional teams

- Proactive in raising blockers and surfacing issues early

- Attention to detail and commitment to code quality

- Continuous learning mindset — keeps up with evolving technologies

- Ability to work independently and manage own time effectively

Nice-to-have:

- Familiarity with any of the legacy application stack technologies in scope: DB2, SAS, UiPath, Oracle, MicroStrategy. Direct experience is not required — willingness to learn and ability to automate around them is what matters.

Additional Information:

- Work location is India, Hyderabad, with occasional travel depending on the nature and level of involvement in respective projects.

- So, if you value an exciting and varied working environment and meet the above requirements, then our recruitment consultant is looking forward to receiving your application.
