Our Client is looking for an experienced Project Accountant to join a well-established organisation within the defence and critical services sector.
Hours: Monday to Friday 38 hours per week
Start date: End Sept
Location: Henderson
Duration: Ongoing - with potential to become permanent for the right person
Pay Rate: Starting from $65.00 p/h + Super depending on experience
Please note: Applicants must already hold a current Baseline or NV1 security clearance to be considered for this position.
Candidates who do not currently hold one of these clearances will not be considered for this opportunity.
The Role
As Project Accountant, you will provide financial and commercial support across project activities, helping ensure accurate reporting, effective cost management and strong financial governance.
You will work closely with Project Managers, Finance teams and key stakeholders to provide meaningful financial insight and support informed project decision-making.
Key Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
- Manage and monitor project financial performance, budgets and forecasts
- Prepare accurate financial reporting and management information
- Undertake budget versus actual analysis and investigate variances
- Support project forecasting and financial planning
- Monitor project revenue, expenditure and commitments
- Ensure accurate allocation and reporting of project costs
- Provide financial analysis and insights to Project Managers and stakeholders
- Support month-end and project reporting processes
- Identify financial risks, trends and opportunities for improvement
- Assist with financial modelling and project financial analysis
- Maintain strong financial controls and data integrity
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to support successful project outcomes
Required Experience
- Experience in a Project Accountant, Management Accountant or similar project-focused finance role
- Strong budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis experience
- Experience analysing project revenue, expenditure and financial performance
- Strong financial reporting and analytical capability
- Excellent Excel and financial systems capability
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- The ability to work effectively with Project Managers and operational stakeholders
- High attention to detail and a strong understanding of financial controls
- The ability to work across multiple priorities in a project environment
- Security Clearance - Essential
