Indonesian Audio-Visual Data Contributor — Independent Contractor

Location: Indonesia — Remote

Engagement type: Independent Contractor / Freelance / Project-Based

Compensation: S$12.50 per complete 30 minutes of accepted recording output, up to 2 hours per contributor

Maximum compensation: S$50

Project: IAVC - Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore

About the project

Our lab in Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore is recruiting independent data contributors for the IAVC research project.

Contributors provide Indonesian audio-visual recording services used to create a research dataset for the development and evaluation of speech technology.

This is a short-term, remote independent-contractor opportunity. It is not a permanent or full-time employment position.

What you will do

You will complete short simulated banking conversations in Bahasa Indonesia.

For each recording task:

• A computer-generated bank representative will ask questions in Bahasa Indonesia.

• You will play the role of the bank customer.

• You will receive scenario information on screen and respond naturally in your own words.

• Your voice and face will be recorded.

• You can review your response and redo it before submitting it.

• Submitted recordings are reviewed against the project’s recording and quality requirements.

Tasks can be completed remotely using your own computer and on your own schedule while recording tasks are available.

There are no fixed office hours and no requirement to work from an NTU office.

Contractor requirements

Applicants must:

• Have native-level or good proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia

• Be legally able to enter into an independent-contractor agreement

• Have access to a computer with a working webcam and microphone

• Have reliable internet access

• Have access to a reasonably quiet recording environment

• Be comfortable appearing on camera and providing voice recordings

• Be able to follow on-screen recording instructions and produce clear spoken responses

English proficiency is not required.

No previous acting, research, transcription, or data-annotation experience is required.

Compensation

Independent contractors are paid S$12.50 for each complete 30 minutes of accepted recording output.

Accepted recording time accumulates across completed tasks.

The maximum available recording volume is 2 hours per contributor, for maximum compensation of S$50, subject to task availability and acceptance of submitted recordings.

Recording time that has not yet accumulated to a complete 30-minute payment unit is not payable unless and until the contributor reaches the next complete 30-minute unit.

For example, 45 minutes of accepted recording time qualifies for S$12.50. Once accepted recording time reaches 60 minutes, total compensation becomes S$25.

Payment is for accepted project deliverables and is not a salary.

Because this is an independent-contractor engagement, contributors are not NTU employees and do not receive employee benefits, paid leave, overtime, CPF, or other employment benefits.

Recording and data use

This work involves creating audio-visual research data.

Your submitted recordings will contain identifiable recordings of your face and voice.

Before beginning recording work, selected contributors must review and agree to the project’s contractor terms, recording consent, privacy information, and applicable data-use terms.

Recordings accepted through this project will be retained and used for IAVC research in accordance with those terms.

Please apply only if you are comfortable providing both audio and video recordings for this purpose.
