We are looking for a Senior Quality Test Engineer (Automation) who can own quality end-to-end, from test strategy and planning through automation execution, defect investigation, and release readiness.
This role is heavily focused on test automation (approximately 85%), requiring strong hands-on experience building, maintaining, and improving automated testing solutions for both web and API applications. Beyond execution, we're looking for someone who can identify quality risks, evaluate automation design decisions, investigate defects, and continuously improve testing approaches to support high-quality software delivery.
You'll work closely with Product, Development, QA, and Delivery teams to ensure releases are backed by strong test coverage, reliable automation, and sound quality engineering practices.
Core Responsibilities:
- Own testing strategy, planning, execution, and quality outcomes for assigned initiatives.
- Design, build, maintain, and enhance automated testing solutions using JavaScript-based automation frameworks.
- Develop and improve reusable, scalable, and maintainable test automation frameworks.
- Define and adapt test coverage based on customer requirements, business priorities, and release risks.
- Execute automated and manual testing activities across UI, API, integration, exploratory, regression, and end-to-end testing.
- Maintain test scenarios, execution records, and test assets to support traceability and reporting.
- Identify, document, troubleshoot, and drive defects through resolution.
- Perform root cause analysis on escaped defects and recommend improvements to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, product teams, and delivery stakeholders to achieve quality objectives.
- Evaluate and continuously improve automation implementations, testing practices, and framework maintainability.
- Participate in release validation activities and provide quality recommendations based on testing outcomes.
- Communicate testing progress, quality risks, and release readiness to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree holder
- 5+ years of experience in Software Testing, Quality Assurance, or Quality Engineering
- 5+ years of experience owning end-to-end testing activities, including test planning, execution, and defect management
- 3+ years of hands-on test automation experience
- 2+ years of hands-on JavaScript-based automation experience
- Strong experience with automation frameworks such as WebdriverIO, Mocha, Playwright, Cypress, or similar tools
- Experience creating, enhancing, or maintaining automation frameworks
- Strong experience automating web and API testing
- Strong understanding of automation framework design, reusable components, and automation best practices
- Experience investigating defects through troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- Experience working with test management and bug-tracking tools
- Experience participating in release testing, release validation, or release readiness activities
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of quality outcomes
Work Arrangement:
- Set-Up: Hybrid (1x/month onsite reporting)
- Office: UP AyalaLand Technohub, Commonwealth, Quezon City
- Schedule: Day Shift (7:00AM – 3:00PM)
