About Solaris Energy Infrastructure
Solaris Energy Infrastructure, Inc. (NYSE:SEI) provides scalable equipment-based solutions for use in distributed power generation as well as the management of raw materials used in the completion of oil and natural gas wells. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Solaris serves multiple U.S. end markets, including energy, data centers, and other commercial and industrial sectors.
Job Description
About the Opportunity
Solaris is growing quickly, and our physical footprint is growing with it. As additional data center and operating sites come online beyond our Houston headquarters, we need a Systems Administrator who is equally comfortable administering enterprise infrastructure remotely and standing in a rack aisle at a new site with a crimper in hand.
This is a hands-on, multi-site role.. You will own core Microsoft 365 and identity administration for the enterprise while serving as the traveling technical presence for our remote sites — build-outs, refreshes, escalations, and the on-the-ground work that cannot be done over a remote session.
Travel of up to 50% is a core function of this position. Trips are typically scheduled in advance, but site-critical issues and go-live windows can require short-notice travel, occasional weekend work, and after-hours coverage. Candidates should be able and willing to sustain this travel level long-term.
Essential Functions
Multi-Site Infrastructure Support
- Serve as the traveling systems resource for Solaris sites outside Houston headquarters, providing hands-on support that cannot be delivered remotely
- Execute site build-outs and expansions including rack and stack, structured cabling, switch and access point deployment, workstation and peripheral provisioning, and conference room and Teams Rooms setup
- Perform on-site hardware maintenance, break-fix, and lifecycle refresh across servers, network equipment, and end-user devices
- Act as the escalation point for site personnel when local troubleshooting has been exhausted, coordinating with the Houston team and vendors through resolution
- Maintain accurate site documentation including rack elevations, network diagrams, asset inventory, and standard operating procedures for every location supported
Microsoft 365 and Identity Administration
- Administer the Microsoft 365 tenant including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams
- Manage Entra ID (Azure AD) identity lifecycle including user provisioning and deprovisioning, group and license management, conditional access policies, and multi-factor authentication
- Own network share and file permission structures including access requests, remediation, and periodic entitlement cleanup
- Administer Mimecast email security including policy configuration, quarantine management, and end-user support
- Support onboarding and offboarding end to end, ensuring access is granted and removed accurately and on schedule
Endpoint, Network, and Security Operations
- Manage endpoint deployment, configuration, and compliance through Microsoft Intune, including imaging standards and software distribution
- Support Cisco Meraki networking across sites including MX security appliances, MS switching, MR wireless, and site-to-site connectivity
- Administer Crowdstrike endpoint protection, responding to alerts and coordinating remediation with the Cybersecurity team
- Execute and verify backup and recovery operations and participate in documented disaster recovery testing
Qualifications
Experience/Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience
- 4+ years of hands-on systems administration experience in a business environment
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time, including overnight and multi-day trips
- Demonstrated Microsoft 365 administration experience across Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams
- Working proficiency with Entra ID (Azure AD) including identity lifecycle, group and license management, conditional access, and multi-factor authentication
- Practical networking knowledge including switching, wireless, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, and basic firewall concepts
- Experience with endpoint management and deployment tooling such as Microsoft Intune
- PowerShell scripting for administrative automation and reporting
- Comfort with physical infrastructure work including racking equipment, running and terminating cable, and diagnosing hardware issues on site
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel by air domestically
- Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and to work in data center and light industrial environments
Preferred
- Microsoft certifications: MS-102 (Microsoft 365 Administrator), AZ-104 (Azure Administrator), or SC-300 (Identity and Access Administrator)
- Cisco Meraki experience or certification (CMNA or higher)
