Noota · Permanent contract · Fully remote from France (open to Western Europe, CET ±1) · Path to Tech Lead
Stack: Python / FastAPI · Kubernetes · Terraform · Azure & open source · AI agents in production
The role in one sentence
Build and run Noota's sovereign AI infrastructure and the agentic architecture on top of it, using agents extensively yourself to move three times faster than a conventional team.
This is a key role: few people, a lot of leverage.
Who we are
Noota is the European sovereign conversation intelligence platform. We turn companies' voice interactions (job interviews, sales meetings, internal meetings) into structured, actionable data, and then into automated actions inside their business tools.
As the French leader in AI note-taking, we serve more than 100,000 users across more than 50 countries and are now rolling out our platform at European scale. Our bet: AI that is state of the art and sovereign. Hosted in Europe, GDPR compliant, auditable, and able to meet the requirements of large accounts, mid-market companies and the public sector.
To deliver on that bet, we need engineers who master both infrastructure and applied AI. Not one or the other.
What you will do
Architecture & backend
- Design, build and optimise high performance, scalable and secure backend services in Python, primarily with FastAPI
- Evolve our microservices architecture: scalability, resilience, maintainability, cost control
- Design our data schemas and caching strategies: PostgreSQL, NoSQL, Redis
Azure & open source infrastructure
- Own our infrastructure: Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform (IaC), CI/CD, on Azure and across European multi-cloud
- Make the right calls between managed services and self-hosted open source components, including open weights model inference, which sits at the heart of our sovereignty promise
- Build and operate observability: Prometheus, Grafana, the ELK stack, alerting, Pub/Sub and event-driven architectures
- Contribute to platform security and compliance (GDPR, European hosting, secrets management, data isolation)
End-to-end agentic strategy
- Design and industrialise our agent architecture: orchestration, tooling, memory, interoperability protocols (MCP, A2A), RAG pipelines
- Put LLM evaluation and observability in place: test sets, real quality measurement, regression detection, guardrails, control over cost per request
- Choose models and inference architectures according to latency, cost and sovereignty constraints
AI-augmented productivity
- Use coding agents extensively and methodically in your daily work: implementation, testing, review, migrations, documentation
- Spread those practices across the team: conventions, context, guardrails, internal automation. This is an explicit expectation of the role, not a personal preference
Technical leadership
- Run demanding code reviews
- Own architecture decisions and carry key projects through to production
- Grow into a Tech Lead role, which is the intended trajectory for this position
What we are looking for
Experience
- 5+ years in backend development, with systems that genuinely scaled in production
- Proven Python expertise and strong API design skills, in particular with FastAPI
- Solid hands-on practice with Kubernetes, Docker and Terraform
- Real cloud experience (ideally with a multi-cloud background: Azure, Scaleway, GCP or AWS) and exposure to scaling environments
- Command of SQL / NoSQL databases, caching, and messaging / Pub/Sub systems
- Comfort with open source infrastructure and inference components, and the judgement to arbitrate build vs. buy
AI
- You have shipped LLMs and agents to production, not only in notebooks: orchestration, RAG, evaluations, cost, latency, failure modes
- You use coding agents intensively and methodically, and you can explain where they save time and where they waste it
Mindset
- Excellent communication, written and spoken above all. We are a distributed team, and a decision that is not written down is a decision lost. Fluent French and solid technical English
- Autonomy and initiative: you pick your priorities, you ship, you report back
- Pragmatism: you solve the problem, not the elegant version of the problem
- A taste for a fast-growing startup environment, with the ambiguity that comes with it
Location
- Based in France (fully remote), or in Western Europe on a CET ±1 compatible time zone
What we offer
- Direct, visible impact: your technical decisions show up in the product and in the numbers
- Full remote from France or Western Europe, with offsites and regular team time (offices in Paris and Toulouse)
- An AI tooling budget with no debate: the best models and agents on the market, licences included
- Rare technical challenges: sovereignty, real time, voice, agents, European scale
- A fast-growing company, leader in its market, at the forefront of European AI
Hiring process
- A first conversation (30 min) to frame the role and your expectations
- A scenario-based interview with our Noota AI agent
- An in-depth technical interview: architecture, infrastructure, applied AI
- A final conversation with the CEO, followed by an offer
