Job Description:
Our client is seeking a Systems Engineer to join its technology team in Irvine, CA. Technology is a critical component of the firm's success, influencing every aspect of its operations. This role is ideal for an experienced infrastructure professional with a strong background in Linux administration, high-performance computing environments, networking, and enterprise storage solutions.
The Systems Engineer will provide technical leadership on infrastructure initiatives, helping design, build, and maintain large-scale compute, network, and storage environments. The ideal candidate can synthesize complex requirements, make informed technical tradeoffs, and drive projects from concept through completion.
Required Skills:
- Strong Linux administration experience, including Red Hat, CentOS, and related enterprise Linux distributions
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining high-performance compute (HPC) clusters
- Hands-on scripting experience using Bash, Python, or similar languages
- Experience with large-scale storage technologies such as:
- IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS)
- WEKA
- Lustre
- VAST Data
- Experience with on-premises compute, networking, and storage infrastructure at scale
- Experience managing colocation (colo) environments
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to drive projects to completion
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
Bonus/Soft Skills:
- Previous technical leadership experience with small to mid-sized engineering teams
- Strong ability to evaluate requirements and make high-impact architectural decisions
- Results-oriented mindset with the ability to work effectively in ambiguous environments
- Experience supporting geographically distributed infrastructure environments, including Orange County, CA and New Jersey
