Software Engineer (Entry Level, .NET / AWS / AI) – Hybrid, Scottsdale, AZ

This is a hybrid position based at our Scottsdale office. You must currently reside in the Phoenix metro area. Applications from candidates outside the Phoenix area will not be considered, and relocation is not offered for this role.
About the role
Range Automation Systems is a Scottsdale-based technology company with customers around the world. We are looking for an entry level software engineer to join our team and grow into a key contributor across our full software stack, including:
- .NET desktop and backend applications written in VB.NET and C#
- Our customer-facing web application and its APIs and back-end services
- AWS cloud infrastructure, including EC2, DynamoDB, and related services
- AI features and tooling, including integrating large language models and AI services into our products and using AI-assisted development in day-to-day work
This is a hands-on role at a small company. You will work directly with the owners and our engineering staff, and you will touch everything from database queries to the interfaces our customers use every day.
What you will do
- Build, maintain, and improve .NET applications (VB.NET and C#)
- Develop features and fix bugs in our web application and its supporting APIs
- Design and build AI-driven features using cloud AI services and LLM APIs
- Work with SQL Server and AWS DynamoDB data
- Help deploy and support services running on AWS
- Troubleshoot software issues reported by customers and our support team
- Write clear, maintainable code and document what you build
What we are looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
- Working knowledge of .NET (C# or VB.NET); coursework, internships, or personal projects count
- Hands-on experience with AI, such as building with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Amazon Bedrock, or similar), machine learning coursework or projects, or AI-assisted development tools
- Familiarity with web development (HTML, JavaScript, ASP.NET or similar)
- Basic understanding of SQL and relational databases
- Interest in cloud services; AWS experience is a plus but not required
- Willingness to learn an existing codebase and ask good questions
- Ability to work on site at our Scottsdale office on a hybrid schedule
- Must currently live in the Phoenix metro area
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
Nice to have
- Exposure to AWS (EC2, DynamoDB, Lambda, Bedrock, or similar)
- Experience with Visual Studio and Git
- Experience with prompt engineering, RAG, or fine-tuning
- Interest in hardware, automation, or how software talks to physical equipment
