Join NORDEN and build on decades of trusted partnerships in Japan’s grain and dry bulk market.
In Japan, long-term partnerships matter.
For decades, we have built trusted relationships with some of the most respected names in the grain and dry bulk industry. Today, we are looking for a Chartering Manager to join our Tokyo office and help create value for customers across global trade flows.
You will manage a portfolio of established customers while helping expand our presence in the Japanese grain and dry bulk market.
You will become part of a small and highly collaborative team in Tokyo, working closely with colleagues in Singapore, the United States and across our global Dry Cargo organisation.
Why this role?
You will have meaningful commercial responsibility from day one, managing your own customer portfolio and working with some of the world’s leading grain and commodity players. You will combine customer relationship management, market insight and commercial execution to create value.
At the same time, you will be supported by our global organisation with deep market insight, risk management capabilities and experienced colleagues across multiple time zones.
For the right candidate, the scope of the role can be broadened over time.
What you will be doing
You will have the opportunity to:
- Manage and develop relationships with a portfolio of key grain and dry bulk customers.
- Manage approximately 10 core customers and act as their trusted commercial partner.
- Identify and execute cargo and vessel opportunities across global markets.
- Negotiate and conclude chartering transactions in cooperation with customers, brokers and internal stakeholders.
- Share market intelligence and contribute to commercial decision-making within the Dry Cargo business.
- Help maintain and grow NORDEN’s position in the Japanese grain and commodity market.
What you will bring
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who will thrive in our team and build close, long-lasting relationships with customers and colleagues.
You likely bring:
- Experience within Dry Cargo Chartering.
- Knowledge of grain trades, agricultural commodities or dry bulk markets.
- Experience from a grain house, trading company, shipowner or chartering organisation.
- Established commercial judgment.
- Fluency in Japanese.
- Professional proficiency in English.
