This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Test Automation Engineer based in India.
This is a hands-on senior QA engineering role focused on building reliable, scalable automation and performance testing for a complex SaaS platform.
You will design and own end-to-end UI and API automation frameworks that protect critical customer journeys and platform functionality.
The role combines browser automation, API testing, unit testing, database validation, CI/CD integration, and performance engineering.
You will help ensure releases are stable, tenant data remains isolated, and automated tests provide fast, actionable feedback to development teams.
You will work in a collaborative Agile environment where strong documentation, technical ownership, and continuous improvement are highly valued.
As a senior member of the testing function, you will also mentor other engineers and help introduce better tools, frameworks, and quality practices.
This is an opportunity to make a direct impact on product quality while working with modern technologies across a remote-first engineering environment.
Accountabilities
- Design, build, and maintain end-to-end automated test suites using Selenium and/or Playwright, including page objects, fixtures, test data, setup, and teardown.
- Automate critical user journeys such as authentication and SSO, tenant onboarding, application registration, scanning workflows, issue management, rules and profile configuration, dashboards, reports, notifications, and administration.
- Own the health of the automation suite by triaging failures, resolving flaky tests, and ensuring test failures provide clear and actionable information for developers.
- Develop API automation for REST and GraphQL services, covering queries, mutations, authentication, authorization, error handling, and security-related scenarios.
- Create unit tests for backend services and front-end components using tools such as Jest and React Testing Library, prioritizing areas with the highest business and technical risk.
- Design and automate tenant-isolation tests to verify that customers cannot access or modify another tenant’s data through UI, APIs, or background processes.
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines and ensure reliable execution against Docker and Docker Compose environments.
- Configure automated quality gates and reporting within CI pipelines using platforms such as Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
- Execute pre-release regression testing and post-deployment validation in cloud environments, including database migration verification.
- Develop and maintain performance and load-testing scenarios using JMeter and/or k6, focusing on high-volume pages, APIs, and queries.
- Track performance trends across releases and identify bottlenecks or regressions that could affect larger customer environments.
- Prepare comprehensive test plans, coverage documentation, process documentation, and clear defect reports containing reproduction steps, logs, and relevant test data.
- Perform production deployment validations according to release schedules, customer requests, and deployment plans.
- Analyze post-release feedback, defects, and recurring issues to identify root causes and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain compliance with established internal controls, QA processes, and engineering standards.
- Evaluate new testing technologies and tools, create proofs of concept where appropriate, and continuously improve testing processes.
- Mentor and support other test engineers by sharing technical knowledge, automation practices, and quality engineering standards.
Requirements
- 6–7 years of software testing experience, including at least 4 years of hands-on experience building test automation frameworks from the ground up.
- Strong expertise in browser automation using Selenium and/or Playwright, with the ability to design maintainable frameworks capable of adapting to continuous UI changes.
- Strong programming experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, and/or Java.
- Hands-on experience with API automation and testing of REST and GraphQL APIs, including authentication, authorization, and negative/error scenarios.
- Experience with unit-testing frameworks such as Jest, JUnit, or TestNG, with familiarity with React Testing Library considered an advantage.
- Strong SQL skills and practical experience with PostgreSQL for test data creation, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Experience using Docker and Docker Compose to run application stacks locally and within CI environments.
- Proven experience integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines such as Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
- Good knowledge of version control systems and modern software development workflows.
- Hands-on experience with Maven and/or Gradle build tools and Postman for API testing.
- Practical experience with JMeter and/or k6 for performance and load testing.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies and tools such as Jira.
- Understanding of static code analysis tools such as SonarQube or equivalent technologies.
- Familiarity with API testing, security testing fundamentals, and common web application vulnerabilities is valuable.
- Experience with automation reporting tools such as Allure, ReportPortal, or Playwright HTML reporting is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, troubleshooting ability, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, take ownership of initiatives, and lead testing activities when required.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement through root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
- Strong technical documentation skills and the ability to clearly communicate testing results, risks, and recommendations.
- Ability to evaluate new technologies and develop proofs of concept to assess their suitability.
- Experience testing multi-tenant SaaS applications, SSO/OAuth flows, and tenant data isolation is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with integration platforms such as MuleSoft Anypoint or Azure Integration Services is a plus.
- Exposure to testing LLM-backed features and MCP servers is an advantage.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Salesforce knowledge is beneficial.
Benefits
- Fully remote position based in India, with Bangalore listed as the location.
- Full-time employment opportunity within a technology-focused SaaS environment.
- Competitive compensation of approximately ₹20–32 LPA.
- Opportunity to work on complex, enterprise-grade SaaS products and demanding customer workflows.
- Hands-on exposure to modern test automation, API testing, CI/CD, cloud environments, and performance engineering.
- Opportunity to design automation frameworks and influence QA engineering practices rather than simply maintain existing tests.
- Strong scope for technical ownership, experimentation, and continuous process improvement.
- Opportunity to mentor other QA and test engineers and contribute to engineering quality standards.
- Exposure to multi-tenant architectures, SSO/OAuth, security testing, integrations, and emerging AI-enabled technologies.
- Collaborative Agile/Scrum working environment with opportunities for professional and technical growth.
