A Systems Analyst / Business Analyst evaluates business processes and identifies technology-based solutions that improve efficiency, accuracy, and organizational performance. This role involves gathering and analyzing requirements from stakeholders, documenting workflows, and translating business needs into functional and technical specifications for development teams.
Typical Duties
- Gather, analyze, and document business requirements by interviewing stakeholders and evaluating existing processes.
- Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications for developers and IT teams.
- Map current and future-state workflows, identifying gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design system enhancements and recommend technology‑based solutions.
- Support software development efforts by clarifying requirements, validating functionality, and ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Develop and execute user acceptance testing (UAT) plans, ensuring systems meet functional and quality standards before release.
- Troubleshoot system issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and coordinate resolution with technical teams.
- Create and maintain documentation such as requirements, system diagrams, process models, and training materials.
- Assist with change management activities including end‑user training, communication, and implementation support.
- Monitor system performance and gather user feedback to recommend ongoing improvements and optimizations.

Qualifications:

- Skilled in translating business needs into detailed functional and technical specifications for development teams.
- Proficient in creating workflow diagrams, process maps, and system documentation using tools like Visio, Lucid chart, or similar.
- Experienced in conducting user acceptance testing (UAT), validating system functionality, and ensuring alignment with defined requirements.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and recommend effective solutions.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities for working closely with stakeholders, project managers, developers, and end‑users.
- Knowledgeable in systems troubleshooting, requirements management, and change‑management best practices.
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks and priorities in fast‑paced environments.
Relevant Certifications:
- Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)
- Entry Certificate in Business Analysis (ECBA)
