Job Summary:
The Supervisor will oversee the press department, ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality production. Ideal candidate will have a strong background in effective team or departmental supervision and leadership. Working knowledge of tandem, transfer and progressive presses. Ability to address problems and inspect as first line response to machine issues and trouble shooting. Lead Supervisor works both with and across departments to effectively communicate and drive overall successes.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees work of all department employees, including supervisors.
- Responsible for time management, shift coverage, work assignments, and monitoring performance.
- Addresses minor discipline problems; confers with Human Resources as needed.
- Review production schedules, plan and continuously monitor staffing levels, outputs and down time to ensure efficiency.
- Under guidance of Production Manager, facilitate production order priorities needed to ensure customer shipment dates and specifications are met
- Assist with the planning and preparation of training and orientation for new team members as needed.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintain thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment within department.
- Responsible for ensuring that all processes, safety, employees, equipment and housekeeping of the department are maintained and production requirements are met.
- Conduct quality checks, identify and address defects, and ensure finished products meet standards and assist in troubleshooting problems.
- Manage inventory, ensuring orders are placed to ensure production goals are met.
- Responsible for reporting when quality or production goals are unmet and supports counter measure development and implementation.
- Communicate with Operations Manager and related departments to ensure maintenance and repair work is completed safely, effectively, and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with other department leadership to coordinate inter-departmental activities and ensure customer deadlines are met.
- Report and/or address issues, troubleshooting/resolving problems, and maintain equipment.
- Support safety efforts by ensuring compliance with all OSHA, company and customer requirements regarding all quality, environmental, health and safety regulations always, including but not limited to maintaining training and compliance logs.
- Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations that affect paint operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know SCAQMD requirements, etc.
- Supports departmental supervisors, team leaders and team members with technical issues or advanced problems with given assignments.
- Track and log, materials, and other resources used for inventory purposes.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least three years of supervisory experience in metal stamping facility preferred.
- Additional education or training related directly to manufacturing presses preferred.
- Environmental permitting and waste management experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods standing, stooping, bending, loading, unloading as necessary.
- Must be able to traverse property multiple times per day.
- Perform relevant departmental repairs and corrections.
- Move equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
