ABOUT COCOMA DIGITAL & STUDIOS

Cocoma Digital & Studios is a fast-growing creative and marketing powerhouse managing multiple brands and sister companies. Our Digital division specialises in YouTube growth strategy, channel management, content development, creator collaborations, and digital brand building. Our Studios division delivers end-to-end post-production solutions for films, television, OTT platforms, web series, and social-first content.

At Cocoma, we believe every piece of content should inform, entertain, engage, and build communities. We work closely with clients to build meaningful digital properties through strong content, effective communication, and measurable growth.

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Script Writer with strong creative range who can adapt across brands, categories, and formats while maintaining each brand’s unique voice.

The role has two key tracks:

Track 1 – Writing Across Accounts:

Write long-form, short-form, ad films, and social content across multiple brands and categories.

Track 2 – Regulated Accounts:

Own content for health, medical, finance, food, and safety categories, ensuring strong research, factual accuracy, regulatory compliance, and expert review.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Scripting Across Accounts

- Write long-form video scripts, typically 5 to 15 minutes, for client channels across categories.

- Write short-form scripts of 30 to 60 seconds for Reels, Shorts, and social-first content, including batches of 10 to 15 without quality dropping across the batch.

- Write ad films, brand films, promos, explainers and creator-collaboration briefs as each account requires.

- Write supporting copy including carousels, captions, community posts, video titles, thumbnail lines and end-screen calls to action.

- Build interview and question sets for hosts, founders, guests and subject-matter experts.

- Adapt voice per brand and hold it consistently across a month of output, including when writing for a named on-camera personality.

- Write to each property's established episode or content structure rather than reinventing the format each time.

- Contribute to monthly content slates and keep topic banks stocked using comments, search demand, client input, and category trends.

2. Research & Fact-Checking

- Get up to speed on an unfamiliar category quickly and write with enough command of it that a client specialist does not have to correct the basics.

- Build factual scripts from primary sources rather than competitor videos, blog aggregators, or unverified AI output.

- Understand what a source can and cannot support, and never let a script imply stronger evidence than the source provides.

- Prioritise Indian and regional data where it exists, and clearly flag where a claim is being extrapolated from elsewhere.

- Maintain a source line against every factual claim so any sentence can be verified quickly by a reviewer or client.

- Independently verify information generated or summarised using AI tools before it is incorporated into any script.

3. Regulated-Category Ownership

- Act as the in-house point of reference for content in regulated categories health and medical first- and any account making claims about health, money, food, safety, or outcomes.

- Write within the applicable regulations by default, including ASCI advertising and influencer guidelines, the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act 1954, CDSCO advisories, FSSAI rules on nutrition and health claims, and the misleading-advertisement and endorsement provisions of the Consumer Protection Act 2019.

- Keep prohibited elements out of consumer content, including restricted named drugs, brands or molecules, cure claims, guarantees, promised figures and timelines.

- Ensure no script diagnoses, prescribes, advises a dosage, or makes a claim a presenter is not qualified to make.

- Keep every presenter within their scope of practice and ensure credentials, disclaimers, and consent requirements are met on every applicable asset.

- Carry scripts through clinical or expert review within the agreed turnaround and action reviewer notes the same day.

- Own the content quality-assurance gate covering claim accuracy, compliance, copy, and call to action before any asset reaches the client.

- Flag compliance risk early to the account lead and propose the compliant alternative rather than only identifying the objection.

4. Production & Client Collaboration

- Prepare shot lists, running orders, teleprompter versions, and presenter briefs ahead of every shoot day.

- Attend shoots, hear lines delivered, and rewrite on the floor where something does not land.

- Present scripts and monthly slates for client approval and manage feedback within agreed revision rounds.

- Work alongside editors, graphic designers, motion artists and the social team, so scripts translate cleanly into cuts, thumbnails and carousels.

- Plan at the scripting stage how each long-form piece can multiply into Shorts, carousels, quote cards and other formats.

- Juggle several accounts in the same week without letting deadlines on one slip because another becomes busy.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

- 2–5 years of scriptwriting experience with a demonstrable portfolio of video work across more than one category.

- Proven range and the ability to move between tones, formats and audiences, and to sound like the brand rather than like yourself.

- Strong research ability, including comfort reading technical, medical or financial material and explaining it accurately in plain language.

- Working knowledge of Indian advertising and sector regulation as it applies to content, or the demonstrated ability to learn it quickly and apply it without supervision.

- Strong English writing skills that sound like natural speech rather than written prose scripts are spoken aloud.

- The discipline to write to a fixed structure and publishing calendar, including high-volume batch weeks.

- Ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines at once, with clear prioritisation.

- A collaborative feedback temperament able to be told a line cannot be used and find the version that can.

- Strong attention to detail in sourcing, versioning and file naming.

- Strong understanding of storytelling, hooks, pacing, audience engagement and content structure.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

- Prior work on regulated or claims-sensitive content in health, medical, pharmaceutical, nutrition, financial services, insurance, education or children's content.

- An educational or professional background that makes technical literature accessible: life sciences, nutrition, pharmacy, public health, medicine, finance, economics or similar.

- Experience writing for a doctor, founder, expert, or celebrity presenter and matching an individual's on-camera voice.

- Understanding of YouTube and social performance retention curves, hooks, pattern interrupts, title and thumbnail copy.

- Agency or studio experience working to client approval cycles and service-level agreements.

- Exposure to regulatory, medico-legal, legal or clinical review processes.

- Comfort using AI tools for drafting and research, combined with the judgement to verify their output.

LANGUAGE & COMMUNICATION PROFICIENCY

English: Professional proficiency – Mandatory

Hindi: Professional proficiency – Preferred

Additional regional language: Preferred, depending on client requirements

The ability to write natural Hinglish dialogue for on-camera delivery is a strong advantage across most of our accounts.

TOOLS & TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY

- Google Workspace and shared content trackers

- Category-specific research and fact-checking

- AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude) with human verification

- Script and teleprompter formatting

- YouTube Studio and analytics

- Frame.io / Drive for reviews

- Canva and basic social content design

- ManyChat awareness

- File naming and version control

SUCCESS METRICS (KPIs)

- 100% on-time script delivery against the approved monthly slate across every assigned account.

- Scripts cleared at first expert or clinical review without factual or compliance rework, at a target rate of 90% and above.

- Client approval achieved within the agreed revision rounds, with a third round treated as the exception rather than the norm.

- Zero compliance incidents: no prohibited claim published, no asset unlisted, withdrawn or challenged after going live.

- Every factual claim in every script traceable to a cited source on request.

- Long-form average view duration and short-form retention meeting the benchmarks set for each property.

- Title and thumbnail copy contributing to click-through-rate benchmarks.

- Topic banks and slates maintained ahead of schedule, with the following month's content drafted before month end.

- Shoot days running to plan, with scripts, shot lists and presenter briefs delivered in advance.

- Consistent brand voice maintained across a month of output on each assigned account.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

The ideal candidate is a curious, versatile, research-driven, and deadline-oriented writer who can adapt across categories, audiences, and formats.

- Strong writing and storytelling skills

- Quick learner with creative thinking

- Research-driven and compliance-conscious

- Comfortable managing multiple accounts and deadlines

- Open to feedback and collaboration

- Understands audience engagement and content performance

- Uses AI with strong editorial judgement

- Takes ownership of quality and delivery
