Position Overview

The Manager, Pricing role blends strategic pricing leadership, advanced analytics, and people management to drive sales growth, margin optimization, and competitive advantage—while upholding The Home Depot’s commitment to value and customer experience.

The Manager, Pricing will lead a team of Pricing Leads, Senior Pricing Analysts, and Pricing Analysts who provide subject matter expertise and analytical support for pricing decisions made by the Merchandising organization. This position is responsible for developing and executing pricing strategies across all merchandising departments, including everyday retail, promotions, clearance, and regional pricing. The Manager should be seen by merchants and cross-functional business partners as a thought leader on pricing strategy, customer value, competitive positioning, and financial performance. The Manager, Pricing will work closely with Merchandising Directors, Merchants, Finance, and senior leadership to align pricing actions to category objectives and enterprise financial goals. Additionally, the Manager, Pricing is responsible for proactively identifying opportunities for pricing capability development including tools, analytics, governance and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead team in structuring and executing pricing strategies, category reviews, and ad-hoc strategic analyses across assigned merchandising portfolios.

- Work with Merchants, Merchandising Directors, Finance, and senior leadership to identify the most impactful pricing opportunities that support category objectives, sales growth, gross margin optimization, and customer value perception.

- Coach Analysts, Sr. Analysts and Pricing Leads on designing analysis that positively influences pricing strategy, category performance, and Merchant decision making.

- Develop and maintain pricing best practices for everyday retail, promotional pricing, clearance pricing, regional pricing, competitive analysis, elasticity modelling, and project management.

- Oversee development of executive-level presentations that assess competitive positioning, category performance, strategic rationale underpinning pricing actions, and expected financial outcomes.

- Accountable for team accuracy, thought process, timeliness, advocacy of pricing and category management best practices, and viability of recommendations.

- Monitor price positioning, category performance, customer behaviour, and competitive trends to proactively identify risks and opportunities.

- Partner cross-functionally with Merchandising, Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain, Operations, and Technology to ensure pricing recommendations are aligned, actionable, and effectively executed.

- Identify, develop, and refine processes to enhance pricing capability within Merchandising, including leadership roles in strategic, cross-functional projects and pricing transformation initiatives.

- Support pricing governance by ensuring pricing actions comply with corporate policies, legal requirements, customer value principles, and established approval processes.

- Accountable for the management of the team for all personnel issues, including coaching, development, selection, performance appraisal, engagement, and succession planning.

Skills

- Progressive experience in pricing strategy, merchandising, category management, finance, analytics or related retail functions.

- Strong business acumen with understanding of retail pricing, competitive dynamics, customer value, and financial performance drivers including ability to leverage complex datasets to assess pricing decisions.

- Strong ability to influence, drive results and demonstrated success partnering with cross-functional teams across a complex organization.

- Excellent presentation and communication skills, including the ability to translate complex analysis into clear business recommendations for senior audiences both written and verbal.

- Demonstrated ability to structure ambiguous projects and work constructively under tight deadlines.

- Experience managing multiple direct reports and developing high-performing analytical teams.

- Demonstrated proficiency managing and prioritizing across multiple projects, stakeholders, and business deadlines.

- Strong project management skills with ability to lead cross-functional initiatives from opportunity identification through execution.

- Proficiency with Excel, AI and pricing or analytics tools such as Tableau, Power BI, SQL-based environments, or enterprise pricing platforms.

Travel Requirements

- Travel in the GTA is required to visit stores and the Innovation Centre.

- There may be minimal travel required to Atlanta

Physical Requirements

- Most of the time is spent sitting and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles

Minimum Education

- Undergraduate degree required, preferably in business or finance.

Minimum Years Of Work Experience

- 7-8 years of relevant experience in pricing, merchandising, finance, strategy, or related roles.

Minimum Leadership Experience

- Demonstrate at least 2 years of leadership experience, direct or indirect

Certifications

- Certification or advanced training in analytics, pricing, finance, project management, or business considered an asset.

Other Requirements

- MBA considered an asset

- Experience in home improvement, retail, ecommerce, or consumer-based pricing considered an asset

- Experience with machine-learning-based price optimization tools or advanced pricing platforms considered an asset
