Job Title: Senior Financial Analyst – Government of Alberta (GOA)
Unit: Public Safety and Emergency Services
Duration: 12+ Months + 18-Month Extension
Location: Edmonton, AB (Remote)
We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst with a strong technical accounting background to support the Government of Alberta – Public Safety and Emergency Services Unit in a complex public-sector environment. This role requires hands-on financial analysis, reconciliation, reporting, and compliance support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform complex account reconciliations, financial analysis, and journal entries.
- Support month-end, year-end, and audit activities.
- Analyze financial data, identify risks, and recommend process improvements.
- Provide technical advice on accounting standards, policies, and legislation.
- Work with ERP systems and advanced Excel tools (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP).
Must-Have Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience using accounting principles and standards.
- 5+ years of advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP).
- 4+ years of data analysis, financial reporting, and SharePoint Online experience.
- Relevant post-secondary education in business, accounting, or finance.
Nice-to-Have:
- CPA designation preferred.
- Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
- Experience in audit, financial controls, or ERP implementation projects.
- 3+ years in accounting systems, budgeting, and internal controls.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be a local candidate (Edmonton, AB area).
- Must complete mandatory training (FOIP, Cybersecurity, etc.).
- Contractor must provide own equipment (Windows preferred).
