Role Description The Customs Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Bedfordview. The role involves managing customs clearance processes for imports and exports, including preparing and submitting documentation, ensuring accurate tariff classifications, and verifying duty and tax calculations. The Customs Specialist will monitor shipment status, resolve customs-related queries, and liaise with customs authorities, freight forwarders, and clients to ensure timely clearance. Daily tasks include reviewing regulatory requirements, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations, and maintaining accurate records in internal systems. The role also includes collaborating with internal teams to address compliance risks, support process improvements, and provide guidance on import and export procedures.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in customs operations, including Customs Brokerage and related clearance activities.
- Strong Import and Import Export skills, with the ability to manage full-cycle import processes and cross-border documentation.
- Proficiency in Export procedures, including documentation, compliance, and coordination with relevant authorities.
- Effective Communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, customs officials, and internal stakeholders.
- Knowledge of international trade regulations, tariff classifications, duties, and taxes.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work on-site in Bedfordview and collaborate in a team-oriented setting.
- Experience in freight forwarding or logistics and familiarity with customs software or ERP systems are beneficial.
- Relevant certification or training in customs, international trade, or logistics is an advantage.
