Position Overview
We are seeking a business analyst to support service teams responsible for production support, small-change delivery, and technical debt remediation for insurance applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in pet insurance along with strong Agile delivery and stakeholder management skills.
Key Responsibilities
Support production incidents, small changes, enhancements, and technical debt initiatives across insurance applications. Gather, analyze, and document business and system requirements. Create clear user stories, process flows, business rules, and acceptance criteria. Collaborate with business stakeholders, developers, testers, architects, and support teams. Triage incidents, assess business impact, support root-cause analysis, and define resolution requirements. Manage and prioritize backlogs using Azure DevOps (ADO) and Jira. Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives. Support test planning, UAT coordination, defect triage, and release validation. Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and issues to clients and internal stakeholders. Maintain functional documentation, support materials, process guides, and knowledge-transfer content. Identify opportunities to reduce recurring incidents and address application technical debt.
Mandatory Skills
Proven experience in the pet insurance domain, including policy lifecycle, coverage, endorsements, renewals, billing, and claims. 5+ years as a business analyst supporting production/support and small-change delivery (or equivalent exposure). Hands-on experience with Policy Administration Systems (PAS). Hands-on experience with claims applications or claims processing systems. Strong experience in Agile delivery (Scrum/Kanban) and working within Agile ceremonies. Practical experience with Azure DevOps (ADO) and Jira for backlog and work-item management. Experience supporting production issues, small changes, enhancements, and technical debt. Strong requirements analysis, documentation, and acceptance-criteria writing skills. Excellent communication and client-facing stakeholder management skills. Collaborative team-player mindset with the ability to work effectively across business and technical teams.
Secondary Skills
Experience supporting UAT, regression testing, defect management, and release activities. Basic SQL and data analysis skills for issue investigation and validation. Experience with insurance integrations, APIs, data mapping, or third-party systems. Knowledge of reporting and dashboard tools such as Excel or Power BI.
Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business, information systems, insurance, finance, or a related discipline. Minimum 5 years in a BA or similar role supporting insurance applications; pet insurance experience required. Demonstrated experience working with both PAS and Claims applications. Demonstrated track record of working in client-facing roles and delivering in Agile environments using ADO and Jira.
