What you will Own
We are looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with 8+ years of experience in mobile application testing, to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate has strong, hands-on expertise in building Appium-based automation frameworks (Python preferred; open to other languages such as Java or JavaScript) and brings exhaustive, practical knowledge of Non-Functional Requirements (NFR) testing for mobile applications — including performance, stability, battery/power consumption, memory and CPU profiling, network variability, and security.
This is a hands-on engineering role that goes beyond test execution — you will design and own test automation architecture and quality strategy for mobile products.
Where Your Expertise Meets Our Future
8+ years of overall experience in software testing, with a significant and recent focus on mobile application testing (Android and/or iOS).
Demonstrated hands-on experience with Appium (or equivalent) for mobile test automation — Python preferred, though open to Java, JavaScript, or similar languages.
Proven experience working as an SDET — building automation frameworks and tooling from the ground up, not only executing pre-written tests.
Exhaustive, hands-on knowledge of NFR testing for mobile applications: performance, load/stress, stability, memory/CPU/battery profiling, network condition simulation, and device/OS compatibility.
Experience with mobile performance and profiling tools such as Android Profiler, Xcode Instruments, Charles Proxy/Proxyman, or Firebase Performance Monitoring.
Solid understanding of mobile app architecture (native, hybrid, or cross-platform) and experience testing REST/GraphQL APIs.
Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
Strong programming/scripting skills and familiarity with version control (Git).
Excellent analytical, debugging, and root-cause analysis skills.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and product teams.
Good to have
Experience with cloud-based device farms (BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, AWS Device Farm, Firebase Test Lab).
Exposure to mobile security testing practices/tools (OWASP MASVS, MobSF).
Knowledge of accessibility testing for mobile applications.
ISTQB or equivalent software testing certification.
Prior experience mentoring or leading a QA/automation team.
Familiarity with the generative AI area to assist with testing strategies and execution
The Scope of Your Influence
Design, build, and maintain scalable, maintainable test automation frameworks for Android and iOS applications using Appium.
Own the end-to-end test strategy covering both functional and non-functional testing of mobile applications.
Plan and execute exhaustive NFR testing, including:
Performance, load, and stress testing under varied usage conditions
Stability and endurance (soak) testing
Battery/power consumption and memory/CPU profiling
Network condition simulation (2G/3G/4G/5G/Wi-Fi, latency, packet loss, offline behaviour)
Device and OS compatibility/fragmentation testing across the Android and iOS ecosystem
Baseline security and data-handling checks for mobile apps
Note: Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for further steps in the hiring process.
