This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Software Solutions Engineer/Forward Deployed based in the United States.

As a Principal Software Solutions Engineer/Forward Deployed, you’ll work closely with strategic customers to solve complex business and technical challenges while helping shape the evolution of a SaaS platform. You’ll combine hands-on software engineering with customer-facing consulting, architecture, and product strategy. The role requires you to design scalable solutions rather than one-off implementations, turning recurring customer needs into reusable platform capabilities. You’ll work across the full technology stack, from frontend experiences and APIs to databases, integrations, and cloud services. You’ll also influence technical direction, mentor engineers, and promote engineering excellence across the organization. This is a remote U.S. opportunity with approximately 20% travel as needed and a strong focus on the insurance technology space.

Accountabilities

- Partner with strategic customers to understand complex business and technical requirements and deliver scalable solutions that address both immediate needs and long-term platform goals.

- Design, architect, and develop scalable features and full-stack solutions across frontend, backend, APIs, databases, integrations, and cloud services.

- Lead technical discovery sessions and architecture workshops with customers and internal stakeholders to define future-state architectures and implementation strategies.

- Translate customer-specific requirements into reusable product capabilities that can scale across the broader customer base.

- Develop clean, maintainable, type-safe, production-ready code using modern technologies including TypeScript, React, Next.js, and related frameworks.

- Build secure integrations and automated workflows that improve customer adoption, operational efficiency, and overall platform value.

- Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering leadership to influence product strategy, roadmap priorities, and technical direction based on customer insights.

- Champion engineering excellence through CI/CD, automated testing, observability, performance optimization, reliability, and scalable development practices.

- Identify recurring customer patterns, technical bottlenecks, and opportunities for innovation, continuously improving solutions and platform performance.

- Mentor engineers, establish technical standards, and promote best practices that strengthen engineering quality, collaboration, and scalability.

- Evaluate emerging technologies, architectural approaches, and development practices to improve maintainability, performance, and customer experience.

Requirements

- 10+ years of professional experience in full-stack or frontend software development, particularly within SaaS products or startup environments.

- Required experience in Insurtech, with strong knowledge of Commercial Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance and the underwriting lifecycle.

- Strong client-facing communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to technical and executive stakeholders.

- Consultative experience, with the ability to act as a trusted technical partner to customers while remaining accountable for delivery and outcomes.

- Strong programming skills with demonstrated proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, Java, C++, or a similar language.

- Hands-on experience with Next.js App Router, including server components, layouts, streaming, and caching.

- Experience with tRPC or equivalent type-safe API frameworks.

- Experience developing complex, data-intensive interfaces using Tailwind and component libraries such as shadcn/ui or Mantine.

- Strong understanding of scalable system design, frontend performance, state management, and accessibility.

- UI/UX design experience or experience working closely with product and design teams is highly preferred.

- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments, balance customer priorities with long-term platform strategy, and make sound technical decisions with limited information.

- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, influence stakeholders, and promote a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

- Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; employment visa sponsorship or transfer of sponsorship is not available for this role.

- Willingness to travel approximately 20% as needed.

Benefits

- Fully remote position within the United States.

- Direct-hire opportunity with a growing organization.

- Approximately 20% travel as needed.

- Strong benefits package.

- Supportive and collaborative company culture.

- Opportunity to work on complex, high-impact Insurtech and Commercial P&C insurance solutions.

- Opportunity to influence SaaS product strategy and turn customer challenges into scalable platform capabilities.

- High-impact technical leadership role combining engineering, consulting, architecture, and product strategy.
