Role: AI and Assessment Policy Consultant (Higher Education)

Location: Remote, UK time zone overlap required

About us

Red Dragon Education delivers online programmes that support the professional growth of aspiring teachers and educational leaders. Working with leading universities, we provide clear routes into international education careers through the IPGCE, IQTS, QTS, PGCE, MA Leadership, MA Education and NPQ qualifications. Our focus is flexible, high quality learning that helps people build sustainable careers in education.

The role

We are appointing a consultant to draft our organisational policy on the use of artificial intelligence in teaching, learning and assessment. The policy must be robust enough to withstand external academic scrutiny and practical enough for tutors and learners to apply.

What you will deliver

- A complete AI policy covering permitted, restricted and prohibited uses of generative AI across teaching, learner submissions and assessment.

- An academic integrity position that maps cleanly onto existing assessment regulations and misconduct procedures.

- A data protection and privacy section aligned to UK GDPR, including guidance on learner data in third party AI tools.

- A short implementation annex: declaration wording for assignments, tutor guidance, and a review cycle.

- A one page summary for learners.

What we need from you

- Demonstrable experience writing or reviewing policy for a higher education or initial teacher training context. Please cite work we can look at.

- Working knowledge of academic integrity frameworks and how AI use is currently handled in assessment regulation.

- Familiarity with UK GDPR as it applies to educational technology.

- A postgraduate qualification in education, policy, educational technology or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in a quality or regulatory function.

- The ability to write with precision for an academic audience and with clarity for a practitioner one.

- Self-sufficiency. This is a short contract with limited hand-holding and firm deadlines.

Desirable

- Experience of QAA, Ofsted or university partnership and quality processes.

- Experience delivering staff training or guidance materials on AI use.

To apply

Send a CV, one example of policy or guidance writing, and a short note (no more than 300 words) on how you would handle AI use in assessed work on a teacher training programme.
