Regulating financial services firms and financial markets in the UK, https://www.fca.org.uk/careers

Requirements of the role

We regulate financial services firms in the UK, to keep financial markets fair, thriving and effective. By joining us, you’ll play a key part in protecting consumers, driving economic growth, and shaping the future of UK finance services.

SPC oversees firms and individuals (supervision), creates and reviews the rules by which they operate (policy) and identifies and remedies ineffective competition in markets (competition). Under FSMA 2023, the FCA has taken on joint responsibility with PRA and the Bank of England for overseeing the operational resilience of CTPs. This is an extremely high profile area of work that is central to the FCA’s work to instil trust in financial services and minimise the impact of operational disruptions on the financial services industry.

Role Responsibilities

- Provide leadership to a team of FCA supervisors and operational resilience specialists in delivering the regulators’ joint oversight approach to Critical Third Parties and the services they provide to the FS sector

- Lead meetings with senior executives from CTPs on the resilience of their services

- Play a key role in the Technology, Resilience and Cyber Department’s leadership team, contributing to the delivery of the departmental strategy as we deliver on the FCA’s agenda to protect consumers and markets from harm

- Work closely with a range of external stakeholders, including across HM Treasury, the Bank of England, PRA and National Cyber Security Centre and international regulators, on issues to do with systemic risk

- During live incidents affecting a firm, CTP or sector, be on call to respond out of hours and provide specialist input to the FCA’s response
