RTDS Engineer — Remote (Full Time)
Working an exclusive search for a growing renewable energy technology company building real-time Hardware-in-the-Loop simulation solutions for utility-scale solar, BESS, and hybrid power plants.
What you'll do:
- Develop and configure project-specific RTDS and RSCAD models for utility-scale solar, BESS, and hybrid plants
- Translate electrical one-lines, control narratives, and interconnection requirements into real-time simulation models
- Build and validate plant-level models for power, voltage control, and grid support functions
- Set up HIL environments using RTDS and physical control hardware
- Integrate PPCs, EMS controllers, RTACs, relays, and SCADA servers into HIL environments
- Develop and execute HIL test plans, procedures, and validation reports
- Troubleshoot model, controller, communication, and network issues during testing
- Replicate field issues in the HIL environment to support root cause analysis
What you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Controls Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience with PSCAD/RSCAD/RTDS
- HIL setup experience
- Strong power systems knowledge
- Familiarity with industrial protocols
Nice to have:
- Master's in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems
- Experience with RTDS NovaCor, RSCAD FX, GTNET, or GTFPGA
Fully remote. $140k to $170k base plus strong benefits.
