At UVeye, we're on a mission to redefine vehicle safety and reliability on a global scale. Founded in 2016, we pioneered the world's first fully automated suite of vehicle inspection systems. At the heart of this innovation lies our advanced AI-centric technology, representing the pinnacle of computer vision, machine learning, and generative AI within the automotive sector.

With over $380M in funding and strategic partnerships with industry giants such as Toyota, Amazon, General Motors, Volvo, and Hertz, our technology is utilized in manufacturing plants, dealerships, wholesale auctions, delivery fleets, seaports, and more. Our growing global team of 250+ employees is committed to creating a workplace that celebrates diversity, encourages teamwork, and strives for excellence.

We’re looking for a Field Service Engineer to join our growing UK Operations Team, supporting customer sites across the UK and Europe. In this hands-on, high-impact role, you’ll lead on-site installations, direct third-party contractors as the Lead FSE, troubleshoot and maintain our systems, and serve as a key technical point of contact for our customers. You’ll play a critical role in delivering a safe, high-quality installation and service experience while representing UVeye professionally in the field. This role requires strong technical judgement, a customer service mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt quickly and solve problems in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.

A day in the life and how you’ll make an impact:

- Own the on-site execution of new UVeye system installations from site readiness and installation through testing, commissioning, and customer handoff

- Act as the Lead FSE on assigned installations, coordinating and directing third-party contractors and ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, on schedule, and to UVeye standards

- Serve as UVeye’s primary on-site technical point of contact, building strong relationships with customers, communicating progress and issues, managing expectations, and ensuring a professional customer experience

- Assess site readiness before and during installation, review site layouts and technical requirements, and identify infrastructure, electrical, networking, civil works, or other conditions that could impact successful deployment

- Install, configure, test, and validate UVeye hardware and supporting systems to ensure equipment is fully operational and ready for customer use

- Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, electrical, and mechanical issues in real time, taking ownership of issues through resolution or coordinating the appropriate internal resources when escalation is required

- Perform preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance across existing customer sites, diagnosing system issues and restoring equipment to normal operation as efficiently as possible

- Maintain responsibility for safety while leading work on site, including identifying hazards, following site-specific requirements, ensuring appropriate PPE is used, and addressing or escalating unsafe conditions

- Partner closely with Operations, Support, Engineering, Customer Success, and other internal teams to communicate field conditions, resolve technical issues, and support successful customer deployments

- Complete accurate and timely installation, commissioning, maintenance, and service documentation, including work performed, technical findings, outstanding issues, and required follow-up

- Identify recurring technical or operational issues observed in the field and provide feedback to internal teams to help improve installation processes, system reliability, and the overall customer experience

Requirements:

- 4+ years as a Field Service Engineer, Field Technician, or similar hands-on install/deployment/maintenance role

- Proven track record leading contractors or teams through technical installations

- Hands-on skills across civil works, networking, electrical wiring, and mechanical assemblies

- Working knowledge of Linux-based systems and basic networking

- Strong troubleshooting instincts and sound decision-making under pressure

- Clear, professional written documentation skills (installation, service, maintenance reports)

- Experience reading site layouts via AutoCAD, Autodesk, or similar

- Excellent communication skills — confident leading conversations with customers, contractors, and internal teams

- A customer-first mindset and the professionalism to represent UVeye on-site

- A safety-first approach, with the confidence to flag and escalate concerns

- Adaptability and resilience in fast-changing field environments

- Willingness to travel per role requirements, and a valid driving licence

Nice to have:

- Startup or fast-growth company experience

- Certified electrician qualification or equivalent electrical experience

- Degree/technical qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related)

- CAD software experience

- Automotive industry background

- Scripting, advanced networking, or deeper troubleshooting expertise

Physical & Travel Requirements:

This is a field-based role requiring extensive travel to customer and installation sites across the UK and Europe. Weekly overnight travel is an essential requirement of the position, with the frequency and duration of travel varying based on customer, installation, and operational needs. The role may also require occasional work outside standard business hours depending on site or service requirements.

Work environments may include vehicle service areas, rental facilities, dealerships, manufacturing sites, warehouses, and other commercial or industrial locations. The role may involve extended periods of standing or walking, bending, reaching, and occasional manual handling, including lifting or carrying equipment and tools up to 40 kg. Employees are expected to follow applicable site safety requirements and use personal protective equipment (PPE) when required. Reasonable adjustments may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
