About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior AI Engineer/Research Scientist to help build and scale the intelligence layer behind Wyre AI’s preconstruction platform. You’ll work at the intersection of Generative AI, document intelligence, retrieval, multimodal AI, and agentic systems, transforming complex construction drawings, specifications, scopes, and project data into connected, actionable intelligence.
This is a senior, hands-on role where you’ll combine research and experimentation with strong production engineering discipline. You’ll design and build production-grade LLM, RAG, multimodal, and agentic AI systems, explore advanced approaches such as GraphRAG, knowledge graphs, model fine-tuning, and intelligent retrieval, and take AI capabilities from early experimentation through scalable production deployment.
Key Responsibilities
· Advise C-suite executives and business leaders on a broad range of technology, strategy, and policy issues associated with AI.
· Work on functional design, process design (including scenario design and flow mapping), prototyping, testing, training, and defining support procedures in collaboration with the engineering team.
· Articulate and document solution architecture and lessons learned for each exploration and accelerated incubation.
· Serve as a liaison between stakeholders, delivering feedback and enabling team members to make necessary changes in product performance or presentation.
· Build production-grade LLM, RAG, multimodal, and agentic AI systems.
· Research and experiment with new models, architectures, retrieval techniques, and AI frameworks.
· Fine-tune and adapt foundation models using SFT, LoRA/PEFT, instruction tuning, and domain-specific datasets.
· Develop hybrid retrieval, reranking, GraphRAG, and knowledge graph-based reasoning.
· Build construction ontologies and extract entities, relationships, and dependencies from complex project data.
· Develop multimodal pipelines for drawings, specifications, schedules, tables, callouts, and technical documents.
· Build intelligent agents using tool calling, MCP, orchestration, and structured reasoning.
· Design robust evaluation frameworks for retrieval, extraction, hallucination, groundedness, and model quality.
· Experiment with prompting, embeddings, chunking, rerankers, model selection, and inference strategies.
· Improve AI system accuracy, latency, reliability, scalability, and cost.
· Take AI capabilities from research and prototype evaluation through production.
Required Skills & Qualifications
· 10+ years of software, ML, or AI engineering experience.
· Strong Python and software engineering fundamentals.
· Hands-on experience building production GenAI / LLM applications.
· Strong understanding of RAG, embeddings, vector search, hybrid search, and reranking.
· Experience with model fine-tuning, evaluation, and experimentation.
· Experience with LLM APIs and open-source models.
· Strong understanding of machine learning and deep learning fundamentals.
· Experience with backend systems, APIs, SQL, and data pipelines.
· Experience deploying AI systems on AWS or another major cloud.
· Ability to independently solve ambiguous, research-heavy AI problems.

· Knowledge graphs, ontologies, or GraphRAG.
