Electrical Engineer

Position Overview
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with strong analytical skills and knowledge of electric distribution engineering. This role will focus on analyzing distribution system data, identifying equipment and line defects, and translating technical insights into actionable recommendations for field operations and asset management teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze electric distribution system data to identify equipment and infrastructure defects.
- Interpret Smart Meter data, predictive alerts, inspection records, historical defect data, and operational data.
- Support efforts to predict and prioritize transformer defects and overhead/underground electrical line defects.
- Analyze large datasets to improve prediction accuracy and reduce false positives.
- Work closely with Field Operations, Protection & Control, and Engineering teams to validate predictive and data-driven findings.
- Translate analytical results into practical recommendations for field teams and asset management.
- Support distribution power flow analysis and evaluation of distribution system performance.
- Investigate technical issues thoroughly and develop data-supported conclusions.
- Apply engineering judgment to improve reliability, maintenance prioritization, and operational decision-making.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills.
- Knowledge of electric distribution engineering.
- Familiarity with:
- Electric distribution line equipment
- Protective device settings
- Electric distribution operations
- Distribution power flow analysis
- Experience interpreting Smart Meter data and predictive alerts.
- Experience working with large datasets, including historical defect, inspection, and operational data.
- Ability to translate technical analysis into actionable insights.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with engineering and field operations teams.
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting predictive analytics or machine-learning-driven asset defect identification.
- Experience working with distribution transformers and overhead/underground electrical infrastructure.
- Experience collaborating with Protection & Control, Field Operations, and Asset Management teams.
- Experience improving predictive models, data quality, or reducing false-positive results.
Work Requirement
Local candidates only. The selected candidate must be available to work on-site in San Ramon 5 days per week.
