Senior Project Manager – Payments & Retail
About The Role
We are looking for a seasoned Senior Project Manager to lead high-impact, cross-functional initiatives at the intersection of payments technology and retail operations. You will own delivery end-to-end — from scoping and planning through launch and retrospective — and serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership while partnering closely with engineering, product, finance, and store operations teams.
What You'll Do
- Drive delivery of complex, multi-workstream projects across payment systems, POS integrations, and retail technology platforms
- Build and maintain project plans, milestones, risk registers, and executive-level status communications
- Coordinate dependencies across internal teams (engineering, compliance, finance, merchandising) and external vendors (payment processors, gateway providers, card networks)
- Manage scope, schedule, and budget; proactively surface risks and drive mitigation plans before they become blockers
- Lead project ceremonies — kickoffs, standups, PI planning, steering committee reviews, and post-launch retrospectives
- Translate complex payment and retail requirements into actionable work items for technical and non-technical teams
- Mentor junior PMs and contribute to maturing the PMO's standards, templates, and delivery practices
- Support change management and rollout planning for new payment capabilities (e.g., tap-to-pay, BNPL, digital wallets, loyalty integration)
- Maintain project documentation: charters, RACI matrices, decision logs, and runbooks
Required
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of project management experience, with at least 3 years in payments, fintech, or financial services
- Demonstrated experience delivering projects in a retail or omnichannel environment (POS, e-commerce, order management, or store operations)
- Solid understanding of payment ecosystems: card networks, processors, gateways, PCI-DSS compliance, and settlement flows
- Hands-on experience with Jira, Asana, and Microsoft Project for planning, tracking, and reporting
- Practical experience operating within SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) — PI planning, ART ceremonies, and program-level coordination
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent, high-complexity projects with competing priorities
- Strong stakeholder management skills — comfortable presenting to C-suite and working with frontline operations
- PMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe Agilist (SA), or equivalent certification
Preferred
- Experience with payment method integrations: Apple Pay, Google Pay, BNPL (Affirm, Klarna), or private-label credit cards
- Background in loyalty/rewards program integrations tied to payment flows
- Business Analyst experience — requirements gathering, process mapping, user story writing, and gap analysis
- Retail technology experience: Salesforce Commerce Cloud, SAP, Oracle Retail, or similar platforms
- Experience managing vendor and third-party integrations under SLAs
Why Join Us
- High-impact role shaping how millions of customers pay across in-store and digital channels
- Collaborative, cross-functional culture with direct visibility to senior leadership
- Competitive compensation, benefits, and professional development support
We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
