Product Engineer (TypeScript, Node.js) | London | £70,000 - £95,000 | Hybrid - 2 days
We're partnering with a Series A-backed HR-tech platform that automates background and reference checking for hiring teams, replacing the slow, manual, bias-prone process that's plagued the industry for years with something instant, transparent and fully compliant.
The platform integrates with 20+ ATS and HR tools, and has now completed over 2.5 million background checks for employers ranging from scaling tech companies to major enterprise names. The team operates in a flat structure with genuine autonomy, no heavy scrum process, no design-by-committee, everyone is trusted to own their piece of the product and make good calls without layers of sign-off.
They're now hiring a Senior Full Stack Product Engineer to join one of their engineering squads and take real ownership across the stack, someone who wants to work close to the product and be trusted to make things better without waiting for permission.
What you'll be doing
- Writing full-stack code in TypeScript and Node.js across a modern, scaling platform
- Owning features end to end within a dedicated product squad
- Working across frontend and backend rather than sitting narrowly in one lane
- Contributing to architecture and technical decisions, not just implementation
- Collaborating closely with product and the wider engineering team on what gets built and why
What they're looking for
- Strong commercial experience with TypeScript and Node.js
- A senior engineer comfortable working across the full stack
- Someone who has operated in a fast-paced, scaling tech environment before
- Genuinely product-minded, thinking beyond the ticket to the outcome
- Someone who thrives with autonomy and real ownership rather than heavy process
Why this one's worth a look
- A flat, low-politics engineering culture with high individual trust
- Real product ownership within a dedicated squad, not a ticket factory
- Established, fast-growing business with a proven product and strong customer base
- Modern TypeScript/Node.js stack with room to shape technical decisions
- A team that has genuinely built its culture around autonomy, not just talks about it
