Role Description The Senior Custody Operations Manager is a full-time role based in Berlin, Germany, with a hybrid work model that allows for a combination of office presence and working from home. In this position, the individual oversees daily securities and custody operations, ensuring accurate settlement, safekeeping, and reporting of assets for institutional and corporate clients. Typical responsibilities include managing end-to-end custody workflows, monitoring reconciliations, resolving operational issues, and coordinating with internal teams and external partners such as custodians and brokers. The role involves implementing and optimizing processes to meet regulatory requirements, internal controls, and service-level agreements, while contributing to projects that enhance the custody platform and operational efficiency. The Senior Custody Operations Manager also provides leadership within the operations team, supports audits and regulatory reviews, and acts as a key point of contact for complex custody-related inquiries.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in custody and securities operations, including asset servicing, trade settlement, and reconciliations.
- Solid understanding of banking regulation, compliance requirements, and risk management related to custody services.
- Experience in process optimization, operational controls, and implementing best practices in financial operations.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including team coordination, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with relevant banking and custody systems, as well as common office and data tools (e.g., Excel, reporting tools).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; German language skills are highly beneficial.
- Several years of experience in custody operations or a related area within banking or financial services, ideally in a senior or supervisory role.
- Relevant academic background such as a degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a comparable qualification.
