Our client is executing a multi‑phase AWS → GCP migration, consolidating analytics, compute, and security workloads into Google Cloud. As a Cloud Architect, you will lead the design, governance, and implementation of the new GCP landing zone, define migration patterns, and guide engineering teams through re‑platforming and modernisation.
This role is fully remote, with occasional virtual workshops and architecture reviews.
Key Responsibilities
- Cloud Architecture — design scalable, secure, and compliant GCP architectures for migrated workloads.
- AWS → GCP Migration Patterns — define service mapping, re‑platforming approaches, and workload transition strategies.
- GCP Landing Zone — build and govern landing zone components (VPC, IAM, SCC, logging, monitoring).
- IAM Architecture — redesign identity models from AWS IAM to GCP IAM, including service accounts, workload identity, and role governance.
- Network Architecture — design VPC architecture, private service access, interconnects, and secure connectivity.
- Kubernetes/GKE Architecture — support migration of container workloads from EKS to GKE.
- Define guardrails, policies, and governance frameworks for cloud adoption.
- Partner with security, data, and platform teams to ensure compliance and operational readiness.
- Provide architectural oversight during migration waves, cutovers, and optimisation phases.
Required Skills & Experience
- 6+ years in cloud architecture across AWS and/or GCP.
- Strong experience designing enterprise workloads on AWS (EC2, VPC, IAM, RDS, S3).
- Strong hands‑on architectural experience with GCP (Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, IAM, VPC, Cloud SQL, Cloud Run).
- Proven experience in cloud migrations, ideally AWS → GCP.
- Solid understanding of Terraform, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation.
- Strong networking fundamentals (VPC, routing, firewalls, private connectivity).
- Experience with Kubernetes (EKS/GKE).
- Ability to work with senior stakeholders and guide engineering teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience with BigQuery, Dataflow, or analytics platform migrations.
- Exposure to Vertex AI or GCP AI/ML workloads.
- Certifications: GCP Professional Cloud Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, Terraform Associate.
- Experience in regulated industries (finance, insurance, public sector).
