Our client is looking for an experienced Business Continuity Management and Operational Resilience specialist to lead and strengthen its enterprise-wide BCM capability.
This is a senior, hands-on consulting opportunity for someone who can develop, implement and continuously improve a Business Continuity Management System. You will help the organisation identify its critical services and dependencies, understand potential disruption risks, and establish effective continuity and recovery strategies.
Working closely with business leadership, Enterprise Risk Management, Technology, Information Security and third-party providers, you will play a central role in embedding business continuity and operational resilience across the organisation.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the enterprise Business Continuity Management framework, policies and methodologies.
- Establish appropriate BCM governance structures and develop a maturity improvement roadmap.
- Lead and coordinate Business Impact Analyses across business units.
- Identify critical business services, processes and dependencies.
- Define and validate MTPD, RTO, RPO and MBCO requirements.
- Facilitate the development, implementation and maintenance of Business Continuity Plans.
- Develop appropriate business continuity and recovery strategies.
- Conduct BCM threat, risk and resilience assessments.
- Assess disruption risks relating to cyber incidents, technology failures, third parties, facilities, utilities and workforce availability.
- Map critical technology, people, supplier and operational dependencies.
- Align business continuity requirements with IT Disaster Recovery capabilities.
- Identify and address gaps between business recovery requirements and technology capabilities.
- Design and coordinate BCM testing, simulations and tabletop exercises.
- Track remediation actions and lessons learned following tests and exercises.
- Develop BCM KPIs and KRIs and report to management and relevant governance forums.
- Support internal and external BCM assurance activities.
What you will bring:
- At least eight years’ experience across Business Continuity Management, Operational Resilience, Risk Management, Disaster Recovery or Crisis Management.
- A minimum of three years’ experience managing or coordinating BCM programmes.
- Strong, practical experience conducting Business Impact Analyses.
- Experience developing and implementing Business Continuity Plans.
- Sound knowledge of RTO, RPO, MTPD and MBCO requirements.
- Experience designing and facilitating BCM tests, simulations and exercises.
- A strong understanding of operational resilience and dependency management.
- Experience working closely with ICT and Disaster Recovery teams.
- Confidence engaging executive and senior management stakeholders.
- A relevant bachelor’s degree or advanced diploma.
Advantageous experience and qualifications:
- Experience within financial services, insurance or another highly regulated environment.
- Knowledge and practical application of ISO 22301.
- Experience conducting BCM maturity assessments.
- Business Continuity Institute membership or CBCI certification.
- ISO 22301 Lead Implementer or Lead Auditor certification.
- Certified Business Continuity Professional certification.
- A Disaster Recovery or professional Risk Management qualification.
