Filmmakers & Movie Nerds e.V. is a nonprofit filmmaking community in Berlin. We believe watching movies is great, but making them is better, and our mission is to get people to stop waiting and start creating.
Right now we're growing two things that need a voice: FILMAKERS.AI, our AI x Filmmaking Lab. We don’t want to replace all positions with AI. Our motto is: THE FUTURE IS HYBRID. So we are helping filmmakers get real clarity on AI tools. Also there is FILMHACK, our AI film hackathon at Studio Babelsberg in Potsdam this November. For both need more people to turn what we're building into content people actually stop scrolling for.
Straight up: this is an unpaid volunteer role. We're a registered non-profit, completely bootstrapped. Everybody here works for the mission, not the pay.
The role
We are building a social media team, so this can be a mix of content creation (photo, video, copy, AI), channel management, strategy, you can also decide. How much of each depends on you: love shooting and editing, we'll lean you into creation; think in calendars and captions, we'll lean you into management. Most people end up doing a bit of both.
What you might be doing:
- Planning and posting across Instagram, LinkedIn and/or YouTube
- Shooting and editing reels, behind-the-scenes and event coverage
- Turning meetups, sprints and workshops into content people actually watch
- Pitching formats and angles, not just executing someone else's calendar
- Help grow the channels, come up with new ideas
Who we're looking for
- Proactive. You see something that needs posting and you post it, you don't wait for a brief
- An eye for design, even if you've never called yourself a designer, you’ll get Canva Pro for free
- Curious about filmmaking and AI, genuinely curious, not a doomer who thinks it's all soulless
- Enjoys creating for its own sake
Workload is flexible and matched to what you can actually give, a few hours a week or more. Totally depending on you. And if we agree on the time, then we need to be sure, that you can deliver it. We need a bit commitment, so we can plan our social media better. We'd love Berlin-based people so you can shoot our events in person, but if the right person is elsewhere, we'll make it work.
