Lead Product Owner – Reporting and Data Extract Service

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Common Product Owner Skills & Experience

The consultant will be expected to:

- Act as a dedicated Proxy Product Owner for one or more assigned workstreams throughout the delivery lifecycle.

- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders (CUs), SMEs, architecture teams, vendors, and delivery teams across multiple geographies.

- Lead requirement discovery, backlog management, and prioritization

- Provide ongoing functional leadership, decision support, and clarification to delivery teams to ensure timely execution and issue resolution.

Expertise Required from Consultant

The consultant should demonstrate:

- Strong Product Ownership and Business Analysis experience within Banking, specifically Canadian Credit Union (CU) ecosystem

- Deep understanding of Core Banking concepts, customer/member lifecycle management, deposits, lending, payments, reporting, or profile management domains.

- Experience working with regulatory, compliance, risk, and operational stakeholders and translating regulatory requirements into business capabilities.

- Strong understanding of data management concepts, including data governance, data quality, data lineage, integrations, ETL processes, and reporting.

- Proven experience working in Agile delivery environments, including backlog management, user story definition, UAT support, and release planning.

Expectations from the Consultant

- Act as the primary Proxy Product Owner for the assigned functional workstream and serve as the key liaison between business stakeholders and delivery teams.

- Elicit, analyze, and document business requirements, translating them into clear user stories and acceptance criteria.

- Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring priorities align with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and delivery timelines.

- Facilitate stakeholder workshops, drive functional decisions, and proactively manage dependencies, risks, and issues.

- Provide functional guidance and timely clarifications to support solution design, development, testing, and deployment activities.

- Support UAT, business sign-offs, and readiness activities to ensure successful adoption of delivered capabilities.

Success Matrix

- Business requirements, process flows, and acceptance criteria are documented, reviewed, and approved by stakeholders.

- Product backlog is prioritized, refined, and maintained to support planned delivery milestones.

- Functional decisions, assumptions, dependencies, and risks are identified, documented, and communicated to relevant stakeholders.

- Delivery teams receive timely requirement clarifications, minimizing development and testing delays.

- UAT is successfully completed, with defects addressed and business sign-off obtained.

- Delivered functionality meets agreed business, operational, and regulatory requirements and is accepted by the program team.

Common Skillset:

Exposure to Credit Union ecosystems is the most important. The person should be well versed with Credit Union operations.

· Regulatory changes should be tracked and delivered within agreed timelines.

· Regular backlog refinement sessions should be conducted.

4. Stakeholder Management

· Stakeholder expectations should be managed through regular communication and alignment sessions.

Reports & Extracts:

As a Product Owner for Reporting & Data Extract Services, responsible for defining product strategy, managing the roadmap, and delivering reporting solutions that support regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and business decision-making across the Core Banking ecosystem.

1. Regulatory & Third-Party Data Extract Management

- Own and enhance data extract products for Equifax, TransUnion, Verafin, CUMIS, and DOXIM.

- Ensure compliance with regulatory and partner reporting requirements.

- Define business rules, data mappings, validation controls, and file specifications.

- Oversee extract generation, reconciliation, exception management, and secure data delivery.

2. Core Banking Reporting

- Manage reporting capabilities across all core banking domains, including:

- Customer & Member Reporting

- Deposit & Savings Reporting

- Lending & Loan Portfolio Reporting

- Delinquency & Collections Reporting

- Financial & General Ledger Reporting

- Transaction & Payment Reporting

- Operational & Management Reporting

- Drive report automation, standardization, and self-service reporting initiatives.

4. Vendor Management (third parties)

- Collaborate with business, operations, compliance, risk, finance, and technology teams.

- Manage relationships with external partners including Equifax, TransUnion, Verafin, CUMIS, and DOXIM.

- Facilitate requirement gathering, prioritization, and solution alignment.

5. Data Governance & Quality Management

- Establish reporting standards, controls, and governance frameworks.

- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, reconciliation, and auditability.

- Monitor reporting quality and drive continuous improvements.
