Note: This role is not for Fomogo, but one of our clients, NextAlphaAI

Seed-funded startup building AI products for securities markets. Founders with 50+ years in software and financial services, with prior exits. Our first product (InvestorAI) is built and heading to first broker go-live, with two more products — ResearcherAI and AdvisorAI — on the same shared data and platform layer, plus a standalone data product and international expansion planned.

We're looking for a product manager who already knows Indian capital markets well — someone who can read a company's filing, explain why our number differs from the one on a client's screen, and turn that into a spec engineering can build.

The Role
Everything we build sits on one data layer: around 5,000 BSE-listed companies, five years of filings across seven filing formats, six vendor feeds. Three AI products read from it. You are the person who owns the product truth on top of that — what a number means, what a feature has to do, and what "correct" looks like before it ships.

You'll be the third voice in every product decision, with both founders. They set the direction and write the top-level roadmap and product docs. You shape that with them, and you own it from the use case down: the detailed specs, the acceptance criteria, the data quality, and the final call on whether what got built is right.

You'll be the only product person outside the founders, so you'll do the work yourself rather than hand it off. You write the specs, you check the results, and you own the outcome. There's no team under you today. There will be.

What You'll Do

- Write the detailed product specs engineering builds from — surface by surface, rule by rule, with the edge cases named. We already have a working spec standard and a large document set; you'll extend it, not start from scratch.

- Decide what "working" means, and test it. You write the acceptance criteria, build the reference datasets, and run the checks. Engineering builds it; you decide whether it’s right.

- Own data correctness as the domain expert. Check what arrives from our data vendor, define how we map it across filing formats, and build automated correctness tests with engineering. Explain to us — and to clients — why two sources disagree on the same number.

- Be the domain voice in the room. You're the person who knows why a bank's filing and a life insurer's filing can't share the same field map, why a bonus issue rewrites five years of EPS, and what an analyst actually does at 8am.

- Keep three products consistent on one platform. Every new feature has to fit shared definitions across all three. Catching the contradiction before it ships is the job.

- Talk to customers about product and data during broker pilots — alongside the founders, not behind them.

What We're Looking For

- 4–6 years' experience, most of it in Indian capital markets. Equity research, financial data, research platforms, a broker's research or advisory desk, or a fund house's data team. This is a hard filter, not a preference. A general SaaS product manager with eight years is not the profile.

- You can read a company's filing and spot where a data vendor got it wrong. Give you a company's results and a vendor's extract of them, and you can find the error. If that sounds like someone else's job, this role isn't for you.

- You've written specs other people built from — product docs, functional specs, or research methodology that engineers or analysts worked off. Clear written English matters a lot here; most of this job is precise writing.

- You know SEBI's rules for research analysts, investment advisers and stockbrokers well enough to hold a line in a product discussion without a lawyer in the room.

- You're happy checking numbers yourself. Excel is the floor. You don't wait for an engineer to tell you whether the data is right.

- Comfortable building with AI tools. We write our product docs and most of our code with Claude. Producing a document is no longer the hard part. The skill we need is reading a confident, well-written spec and spotting the two paragraphs that are wrong. We'll test for this in the interview.

- Bangalore strongly preferred. This is a work-from-office role, five days a week, near Koramangala. We're not hiring remote. If you're relocating to Bangalore, tell us your timeline.

Nice to Have

- Time at a financial data vendor or research platform — Accord, Dion, CMIE, Capitaline, LSEG/Refinitiv, FactSet, Screener, Tickertape, Trendlyne, smallcase, or similar.

- CA, CFA, or NISM certification.

- SQL, or enough Python to run your own checks on a dataset.

- Portfolio analytics depth — XIRR vs TWRR, corporate action adjustment, cost basis and tax lots, benchmark construction.

- You've shipped a product where an AI's answer had to be right, not just sound right.

- Exposure to broker or wealth platform integrations.

Why This Role

- Three products, one data layer, and a domain most product managers don't know.

- You won’t be handed a backlog to work through. You’ll decide what "correct" means for a system that tells retail investors and research analysts what is happening to their money.

- The founders have built and sold companies before. There's nobody between you and the decision. The team is small enough that what you decide on Monday is in the product by Friday.
