Help make the world more hospitable
The hospitality industry is uniquely human, and it deserves technology that's just as inspiring as the people behind it. At Mews, we're transforming the industry with a platform that helps hotels run smarter, move faster and create better guest experiences.
You'll work with smart, curious people who care deeply about what they do. You'll have autonomy and the trust to make good decisions and move quickly. And you'll enjoy a real sense of purpose as you see the impact of what we're building.
If you're motivated by ownership, curiosity and meaningful impact, and are driven to deliver consistent high performance, you'll feel at home here.
About the role
Let’s get into the specifics. It’s impossible to capture every nuance of a role — especially at a rapidly growing company like Mews — but if we had to distil it into a job description (which we do, because this is a job description), it would be this:
Security at Mews is load-bearing infrastructure, not a compliance checkbox. As a Security Engineer you will build the tooling, controls and repeatable workflows that let hundreds of engineers ship securely at pace, working across application security, cloud controls and supply chain risk in a cloud-native environment that processes hospitality and payment data for thousands of hotels worldwide.
Much of what you build will be agentic: automation that reviews, triages and remediates at a scale no team of specialists could reach by hand.
What you'll be doing
- Build and maintain application security tooling (automated code analysis, dependency checks, secret scanning) embedded in the engineering workflow
- Run threat modelling sessions with engineering teams so security is designed in from the start of product work, and make that modelling continuous by validating it on every pull request
- Build remediation automation that triages findings and raises its own fix pull requests, with clear guardrails on what it may resolve without a human
- Own cloud security controls on Azure, including policy enforcement and secure-by-default configuration
- Secure the growing surface of AI-built applications, and turn each review into a workflow others can run
AI Fluency Level 3: in this role that means you have redesigned how a security function works using AI (not just your personal workflow), built approaches or playbooks other engineers can follow, and you actively question what AI tools give you. In security engineering, that shows up in threat modelling at scale, vulnerability triage, and building review automation a non-specialist can run.
For more information on AI fluency at Mews, please refer to "AI Fluency at Mews: A Comprehensive Guide for Candidates" on Confluence.
What we're looking for
- 2–5 years of hands-on security engineering experience, building capabilities rather than operating existing tools
- Application security experience (static analysis, software composition analysis, secret scanning or container security) with modern tooling
- Cloud security experience, Azure a strong plus, AWS or GCP considered
- A development or scripting background (Python, .NET or similar) and AI Fluency Level 3: you have redesigned a security workflow using AI, built something repeatable, and you check AI output critically
- A product mindset towards internal tooling: engineers as your customers, prioritisation by impact, success measured by adoption
