Key Responsibilities
• Lead the design and implementation of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions across on-premises and future cloud environments.
• Build and automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and operational processes using industry-standard automation tools.
• Develop automated server provisioning capabilities, moving from manual infrastructure requests towards self-service deployment workflows.
• Design automation frameworks that enable users to submit infrastructure requirements through standardised forms and automatically provision required resources.
• Reduce operational overhead by automating manual infrastructure activities, including server builds, software installation and configuration, patch management processes, validation and compliance activities, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
• Define and implement infrastructure standards, governance, and best practices.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Operations, and Engineering teams across multiple regions.
• Ensure all automation solutions are designed with future cloud migration and cloud-native adoption in mind.
• Support infrastructure modernisation initiatives involving OpenShift, Kubernetes, and hybrid cloud platforms.
• Act as the technical lead for infrastructure automation initiatives and help build and mentor a future automation team.
• Drive continuous improvement across infrastructure operations through automation and standardisation.
Your Profile
• Strong hands-on experience with Terraform and Ansible.
• Proven experience implementing Infrastructure-as-Code solutions at enterprise scale.
• Experience building automation frameworks from the ground up within greenfield environments.
• Deep understanding of Linux administration, VMware environments, and enterprise server infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, and container platforms.
• Experience designing infrastructure with future cloud adoption in mind.
• Exposure to public cloud technologies, including Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Knowledge of source control platforms (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Demonstrated ability to independently lead and drive strategic infrastructure projects.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
What's Offered
• Competitive contract rate of £600- £700 all in.
• Opportunity to lead a strategic infrastructure modernisation programme.
• Chance to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
• Potential to influence and establish best practices in infrastructure automation.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior infrastructure automation specialist who can define the automation strategy, lead greenfield initiatives, and design scalable infrastructure automation architectures. They should be able to drive change in a largely manual environment, influence stakeholders, and establish best practices while building the foundations for a future automation team.
