WHAT THIS IS

This is a role for an engineer who would rather build inside a client's operation than behind a spec. You will embed with enterprise clients, find the gap between what their systems do and what their business actually needs, and then ship the software that closes it.

We believe this is the first Forward Deployed Engineering function inside a South African managed services business. You would be the first one in the seat, and you would shape how it works.

WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS

BroadVision has spent 26 years running enterprise IT across more than 40 countries. Managed services keeps our clients' systems running. This role is about what comes next.

Most software companies build a product and hope it fits the customer. We start from the opposite position. We are already inside the estate, with the access, the context and the trust that took years to earn. This role turns that position into shipped software.

WHAT YOU WILL ACTUALLY DO

The role wears three hats, often in the same day: consultant, product manager and engineer.

- Embed. Spend real time inside a client's operation. Sit with the finance team, the operations manager, the general manager. Understand the workflow before you touch a keyboard. The problem a client describes is rarely the problem you end up solving.

- Scope and decompose. Take an ambiguous business problem, break it into something buildable, and be honest about what is worth building and what is not.

- Ship production code. Not prototypes, not slideware. Software that runs in a live environment, that other people depend on, and that you are accountable for when it breaks.

- Integrate the estate. Wire together the systems already in place: property management, ERP and finance, ticketing, telemetry, access control, vendor APIs. Make data move and workflows close.

- Deploy AI where it earns its place. Agents, retrieval over client data, document and data extraction, workflow automation. Get it into production, instrumented and genuinely adopted, rather than demonstrated once and abandoned.

- Own the outcome. From the first discovery conversation through to the client's own team using the thing daily without needing you in the room.

- Feed the platform. Anything you build twice becomes a standard component for the next client. You are building a reusable capability, not a pile of one-offs.

This is an engineering role. You carry no sales quota. You will work alongside our account and delivery teams, but the core of the job is building.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics or a related quantitative discipline from an accredited university, or equivalent demonstrable engineering ability.

- 3+ years writing and shipping production software. We care about what you have put into live environments.

- Strong in at least one of Python, TypeScript/Node, Go, C#/.NET or Java, and able to pick up another when a client's estate demands it.

- Real integration experience: REST APIs, webhooks, authentication and authorisation, message queues, and systems that were never designed to talk to each other.

- Solid SQL and data-handling ability. Pipelines, transformations, and data that is messier than the documentation suggests.

- Cloud and deployment competence: Azure or AWS, containers, CI/CD, basic observability.

- Comfortable inside a corporate network. Active Directory and Entra ID, VPNs, firewalls, on-premise to cloud boundaries, and the security constraints that come with client environments.

- The ability to sit across from a CFO, a hotel general manager or a head of operations and explain a technical trade-off in language they can act on.

- Willingness to work on client sites and travel domestically, with occasional international travel. Valid driver's licence and own transport.

- bility to pass standard client vetting for site and system access.

ADVANTAGEOUS

- Hands-on work with LLMs and agent frameworks: prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation, tool and function calling, evaluation and guardrails.

- Experience in consulting, solutions engineering or systems integration where you were client-facing rather than shielded from the customer.

- Exposure to any of our core verticals: hospitality, banking, telecommunications, retail, property and much more.

- A track record of things you built because you wanted to, not because someone assigned them.

OUR HIRING PROCESS

We hire on demonstrated ability, so the process is built around what you can do rather than where you studied.

- Application review. Your CV, plus links to anything you have built.

- Technical screen, 45 minutes. A conversation about your work, not a trivia quiz.

- Work sample. A realistic, time-boxed integration and build problem drawn from a real client scenario, completed in your own time. This is the core of our assessment.

- Decomposition interview. We hand you a vague, real business problem and work through it together. We are watching how you narrow an open-ended problem, what you ask, and where you push back.

- Final conversation with the executive team.
