Snowflake Consultant (multiple - different levels)

Remote (UK Based)

£40,000-85,000

This is a senior, client-facing role that blends hands-on engineering with solution design and technical leadership. You will own the design of end-to-end data solutions – from requirements, through architecture, to delivery – while mentoring colleagues and helping to shape the direction of their engineering practice.

Key Skills & Experience

Core engineering

- Highly experienced in SQL and Python

- Strong hands-on experience with one or more cloud data platforms (e.g. Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Azure, GCP)

- Experience with data integration / ELT tooling (e.g. dbt, Fivetran, Hevo, Matillion, Azure Data Factory)

- Dimensional data modelling and data warehouse / lakehouse design

- Software engineering best practice: version control (Git), CI/CD, automated testing, and modular, reusable code

Solution design & architecture

- Translating business requirements into clear, end-to-end technical solution designs

- Designing scalable, secure and maintainable data architectures across ingestion, transformation, storage and serving layers

- Producing solution design documentation, architecture diagrams and technical proposals and estimates

- Evaluating and recommending platforms and tools, including build-vs-buy decisions, with clear justification

- Balancing trade-offs across cost, performance, security, scalability and time-to-value

- Running discovery and requirements workshops with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Data quality, governance & operations

- Data governance, security, quality and compliance (e.g. GDPR)

- Cloud cost optimisation (FinOps) and performance tuning

- DataOps: orchestration, monitoring, and reliable, repeatable deployments

AI-ready data & modern analytics

- An understanding of how well-engineered data underpins AI and analytics use cases

- Awareness of GenAI / LLM concepts and agentic AI, and an interest in building “AI-ready” data foundations (e.g. Snowflake Cortex, Databricks AI, Microsoft Fabric / Copilot) – desirable

- Awareness of downstream BI and semantic layers (e.g. Power BI, Qlik) in order to design fit-for-purpose serving layers

Consulting & personal

- Confident communicator, able to present to and build trust with client stakeholders

- Self-starter and problem solver with a strong sense of ownership

- Good time management across concurrent client engagements

- Appetite to continually learn new technologies and techniques

- Willingness to mentor and develop more junior colleagues

Desirable

- Relevant certifications, e.g. SnowPro, Databricks, dbt, or Microsoft Fabric / Azure (DP-series) or equivalent

- Infrastructure as Code experience (e.g. Terraform)

- Prior consultancy or client-facing delivery experience

Responsibilities

- Lead the delivery of customer projects – both technically, and by managing the project, the client relationship and more junior colleagues

- Own solution design: run discovery, capture requirements, and design end-to-end architectures, producing solution design documents and estimates

- Provide technical leadership and expertise on data engineering within the services team, supporting the Technical Director in developing and expanding the team’s capability

- Configure and manage client cloud platforms (e.g. Snowflake)

- Collaborate with customer stakeholders and analyse user requirements

- Create clear functional and technical documentation

- Deliver solutions aligned to industry best practice, and help establish reusable standards, frameworks and accelerators

- Ensure the quality of solutions through code reviews and testing

- Mentor and support the development of more junior colleagues

- Contribute to pre-sales activity – scoping, estimating, and building and demoing PoCs to prospects (on occasion)

- Work with the support team to help resolve tickets (on occasion)

- Keep your skills current with emerging technologies, including AI and GenAI

- Travel to client site (on occasion)
