Role Description The Owner at SMEC in Gurugram will provide strategic leadership, set business direction, and oversee overall performance of the office and regional operations. This full-time on-site role includes defining and communicating long-term vision, guiding senior leaders, and ensuring alignment with SJ Group’s global strategy and sustainability objectives. The role involves overseeing project portfolios, approving major proposals, monitoring financial performance, and managing key client and stakeholder relationships. The Owner will champion innovation, strengthen market positioning, and support the development of multidisciplinary teams through effective governance, risk management, and compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience in engineering, infrastructure, or professional services, with responsibility for strategic planning, business growth, and organizational performance.
- Strong commercial acumen, including experience in financial oversight, budgeting, risk management, and contract governance.
- Background in civil engineering, infrastructure planning, or related technical disciplines; advanced degree in engineering, business, or management is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain high-level client, partner, and stakeholder relationships, including public sector and private sector entities.
- Track record of leading multidisciplinary teams, fostering an inclusive culture, and supporting talent development and succession planning.
- Commitment to sustainability, ethical practices, and safety standards in project delivery and business operations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a complex, global organization.
- Experience working in or with India-based operations or international infrastructure markets is highly beneficial.
