Evolving Texas is looking for an AI/Automation Specialist to help our civil engineering design teams identify, adopt, and optimize AI-powered tools and workflows. This role involves deeply understanding AI capabilities (LLMs, automation platforms, document and data tools) and applying them to real engineering design, reporting, project management, and administrative workflows. You'll learn our processes and industry (civil engineering, permitting, project delivery) to identify how AI can save time, reduce errors, and unlock new capability across the firm.
What you'll do:
- Learn Evolving Texas's established processes for project design and delivery across residential, commercial, industrial, and multi-family projects
- Partner with engineering, project management, and admin staff to map current workflows and identify AI-suitable opportunities
- Pilot and implement AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, automation platforms) for tasks like document generation, data extraction, reporting, and QA
- Train staff on new AI-enabled workflows and serve as the internal go-to resource
- Create internal documentation to guide staff in AI workflows
- Evaluate emerging AI tools and vendors relevant to civil engineering and the AEC industry
- Build lightweight internal tools, templates, or scripts to support adoption (no formal coding degree required, but comfort with tools like Python, Excel, or low-code platforms is a plus)
- Track and report on efficiency gains from AI adoption
What we're looking for:
- Demonstrated, hands-on experience with a variety of modern AI tools
- Strong written and verbal communicator who can translate AI capability into plain-language value for non-technical staff
- Willingness and ability to learn civil engineering/AEC industry basics
- Experience with process improvement, training, or change management is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, a trade school credential, or equivalent related experience/credentials preferred
- Must be authorized to work in the United States for this employer; this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
