A well-established organization within the communications industry is looking to add a seasoned accounting professional to its leadership group in Silver City, New Mexico.
This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an accounting professional with direct experience in the telecommunications, broadband, fiber, or regulated telephone industry. The Accounting Manager will oversee an established accounting team while remaining actively involved in day-to-day accounting operations, financial close, reporting, reconciliations, journal entries, and related activities.
The organization is seeking someone who understands the accounting requirements and complexities of the telecommunications industry and can step into the operation, build credibility with an experienced team, and contribute quickly.
What You'll Do
- Maintain hands-on involvement in month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and general ledger activities.
- Lead and support an established accounting team responsible for key day-to-day accounting functions.
- Support accounting activities across regulated and non-regulated operations.
- Manage and review intercompany accounting activity involving affiliated entities.
- Apply knowledge of FCC Part 32 accounting and applicable GAAP requirements.
- Support strong accounting controls, processes, and reporting accuracy.
- Partner closely with senior financial leadership on accounting priorities and operational needs.
- Assist with regulatory reporting activities based on experience and organizational needs.
- Provide practical leadership, coaching, and direction while maintaining a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
- Identify issues, take initiative, and independently drive work to completion while knowing when to ask questions or escalate concerns.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Direct accounting experience supporting a telecommunications, broadband, fiber, regulated telephone, or closely related telecom organization.
- Familiarity with telecommunications accounting standards and regulatory reporting requirements
- Strong hands-on accounting background, including month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting.
- Demonstrated leadership experience. Formal people-management experience is valued, but candidates with strong telecom accounting expertise and demonstrated leadership capability are encouraged to apply.
- Experience with intercompany accounting preferred.
- Regulatory reporting experience is a plus but is not required.
- Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting/ERP systems.
- Self-directed and comfortable taking ownership without extensive oversight.
- Collaborative, personable leadership style and the ability to work effectively with an established team.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related discipline preferred.
