Role Description The Forward Deployed Intern role is an on-site internship based in the Washington DC–Baltimore Area, working within Fairfax County Public Schools to support school and central office operations. Interns collaborate with educators, technology staff, and administrators to help implement data-driven and technology-enabled solutions that improve classroom experiences and operational efficiency. Day-to-day responsibilities may include gathering and analyzing information from school stakeholders, assisting with the rollout and testing of educational tools or systems, documenting processes and user feedback, and preparing clear reports or presentations for decision-makers. The role also involves supporting training or demonstrations for staff, responding to user questions, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth implementation of initiatives. Interns are expected to manage their time effectively, communicate clearly, and contribute to a positive, learner-centered environment.
Qualifications

- Ability to work collaboratively with educators, students, and administrative staff, demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Capacity to collect, organize, and interpret information, with foundational skills in research, basic data analysis, and problem solving.

- Interest in education, public service, and technology-enabled learning environments; prior experience in a school or youth-serving setting is beneficial.

- Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and follow through on assignments in a fast-paced environment.

- Comfort with common productivity and collaboration tools (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, learning management systems); familiarity with educational technology platforms is a plus.

- Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and adaptability, with openness to feedback and commitment to continuous learning.

- Enrollment in or recent completion of a relevant academic program (e.g., education, public policy, information systems, or a related field) preferred but not required.
