Automaid is building a simpler way for people to create AI agents that can use connected tools, carry work forward and automate recurring tasks. Instead of requiring users to build complex workflows, they can describe what they want done and let the agent handle the process.
About the internship
You will learn directly from the founder and team how to examine real work, decide what is suitable for automation, turn it into a clear workflow, and build an AI agent that can carry it out reliably.
This is not a conventional software engineering internship. No coding experience is required. Coding knowledge may be helpful, but the more important skills are structured thinking, curiosity, judgment and the willingness to test ideas carefully.
What you will do
- Study real tasks and understand how people currently complete them.
- Break those tasks into clear steps that an AI agent can follow.
- Create and improve agents that automate selected work.
- Test the agents using realistic situations and identify where they fail.
- Refine the instructions, tools and workflow until the result becomes more dependable.
- Document what was built, what was learned and how the agent could be used.
What you will learn
You will learn how to identify work that is suitable for automation, convert an unclear human process into a structured workflow, design instructions for AI agents, connect AI with real tools, test reliability, and improve an agent when its results are inconsistent.
These skills are increasingly relevant to students considering careers in technology, finance, consulting, product management or entrepreneurship. In investment banking and other analytical roles, for example, the advantage is not merely knowing how to use an AI chatbot. It is knowing how to redesign research, monitoring, information gathering and repetitive knowledge work so that AI can perform more of it reliably.
Who this is for
You may be suitable if you are a student who:
- Is genuinely interested in AI, automation and how work can be improved.
- Thinks logically and can explain a process clearly.
- Is comfortable experimenting, testing and learning from failed attempts.
- Can work independently and communicate what you discovered.
- Pays attention to whether an output is actually correct, rather than accepting the first answer produced by AI.
Talking to AI is akin to talking to a colleague. Please note your active participation among your teammates is required for your learning. This is not going to be a lecture-style format nor a participation certification. Kindly factor that in before applying.
No particular degree is required. No coding experience is required, although coding knowledge or prior experimentation with AI tools may be helpful.
Open to current university, polytechnic, junior college, or equivalent tertiary and pre-university students.

Internship arrangement
This is an unpaid, remote internship lasting approximately 6-8 weeks, with an expected commitment of 8-12 hours per week. Working hours are flexible, apart from a regular discussion with the founder. The internship will focus on defined automation projects rather than routine administrative work.
